Antrobus: Misunderstood genius or just another Mug with mullett?

I remember a day out in the Dry area (hardly) with my brother @ Windy Hill & seeing a match between the Eagles & Bombers. Antrobus had been picked to play (god knows why?) and whenever he got the ball people would shout "Drop the ball you idiot and just whack someone!" as that's all he ever really did.
Came from SA with a huge wrap and couldn't cut the mustard.

As for Tony, I thought he was just an amazing Full Back.
One of the best that's been at the club IMO. He never got his just rewards either missing out in 1990 and being a reserves player in '93 (I think, but he may have retired @ the end of '92). He had some tough asks too during that time in Dunstall, Ablett, Lockett.
A bloke who never gets a mention. Big fan here Tony!

As a North Adelaide fan from way back, the Ant was pound for pound one of the best footballers I ever saw. Admittedly, he did lose the plot on occasions, the elbow to Stephen Curtis' head in about 1986 was a prime example, but to win a Magarey when the SANFL was flying playing against rovers like Platten, McGuinness, Naley etc shows he was the real deal.

His mark over a Centrals player (Phil Graham from memory) at Adelaide Oval is the best mark I have ever seen too!

i think daniher's last game for us was the night final against carlton in '93. he got torn a new ******** by kernahan (6 goals i think). hard to know if it was that bad a game really, after all, fletch got 7 kicked against him in the grand final. anyway, after that, he was gone.

Wasn't the same player after going down with his knee at Windy Hill in 1992 iirc. At the time, he was regarded as one of the best full-backs in the AFL.

Yes! The knee injury in 92, it's all flooding back to me.
If someone can please remove the Paul Hamilton era from all known exsitence then I'd be a happy man. Just awful.(shudder)

Injury free The Ant would have been good for us, yes he was mental, easily sucked in , but he could play, had a shocking back injury. A.Daniher was a class full back had a very good record v Lockett.
