View Full Version : Dravid's World Record
An odd bit of trivia for a quiet morning on Bigfooty.
Rahul Dravid now has played the most ODI innings without being dismissed for a duck - 120.
Takes over from Martin Crowe (119) and Kepler Wessels (105).
The most by someone playing solely for Australia (Wessels's run was for both Aus/SA) is Dean Jones on 88.

Dravid also hold the world record for the most byes conceded by an international wicketkeeper in ODI's...

its just 120 in a row.....

Does Ponting still have the Test record for most test matches without a duck? I think straight after they announced it, he got those 3 ducks in a row against Pakistan.

Thought it probably would be.
Here's a trivia question then... who has played the most ODI's without EVER scoring a duck?
Sorry, didn't explain myself very well.
It is the most consecutive ODI innings without a duck.
Cheers

That is a fine record, a career of 105 innings and never getting a duck. I was expecting the best to be someone with a career of only about 20 matches.

Martin Crowe's effort wasnt half bad: 9 years without a duck.

Shheeez, I went 12 seasons without making a bloody duck as an opener ... then went on to make three of the bastards in five innings.
That's f****d his average, Tony.
And what happens when you put up a thread like this.............?
Amazing.
Wonder if Damien Martyn is trying to make history of his own. What would be the longest stretch of test matches or innings that an Aussie Number 4 went without scoring a hundred and retaining their spot in the side?
16 Tests (and counting for the boy from WA with pictures) including series against the lamest attacks going around (Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, India & England).
With Murali in Sri Lanka next month - I reckon he may just add a few more barren tests to the collection.
Is there anyone else out there who has had such a lean streak for the Aussies (@ number 4, a spot normally reserved for our permier batsman)?

This is where Martyn is getting dudded a bit. He's still averaging around 42 or so! If every batsman got their average day in, day out, the Aussies would score over 400 each innings. Just because he's not getting tons all the time, he's not exactly "failing" either.
A lean streak? That's a bit harsh.......
From 2002/03 onwards, Martyn has played 14 tests, scoring 780 runs @ 39.00, with six half-centuries and a highest score of 95.
I guess they respectable enough figures for a top order batsman who some people are saying is out of form. Certainly not world-beating though, by any means.
It comes down to how selectors view the importance of scoring 100's. Given the batting strength of the current side, they are obviously prepared to persist with a player who is fairly consistent but not getting big scores.

Lol that record is out the window.
Dravid run out for 0 tonight.
Well, he still has the record!
However, it is going to take him a long time if he wants to increase his lead - as he has to start from scratch again.:D

Yeah but it has ended.
He looked a bit disappointed to. Dont know if the record had anything to do with it.
