Interesting to see Aaron on the show.
The show wasn't all that interesting. Don't know how much of the whingeing and bitching women I can put up with.

That's a good point as a lot of the blokes on here sound like bitching whinging women as well. Especially the Collingwood supporters.;)

I hear it came 4th behind CSI Miami, Blue Heelers and a Margaret Thatcher documentary in some states
Todays Hun says the Tasmania have dumped The Hothouse to an 11.30pm timeslot.
It seems as though ch10 & 7 struggle with reality TV,yet a lot of the one's on chEd work.Why ?

Simple - because Channel Ed go after the better ones and leave the rest alone, then they are better promoters than the others. Plus when you dominate the market, if something goes wrong it's easier to fix.

Reality TV is hugely dependent on the casting, but even that doesn't mean success.
On paper, the HotHouse had all the ingredients of a successful reality show - rennovation (The Block) , voting off/confrontation (Survivor) and living together (Big Brother).
The execution has been bad, not as bad as some people say, but still abysmal viewing.
The casting with HotHouse is incredibly bland, the only remotely interesting couple is the family from SA.
Of course, the problem with casting reality shows is that who can afford to take 3 months off work to go up to Qld and build a house?
Reality TV is in trouble, and I think Ten won't be the only victim. Seven have about a dozen new reality shows starting - including How Clean is Your House?, and I think we will see a widening in the gap between Nine and the rest, ratings wise.
The only question 7 and 10 need to think of is with those particular types of shows they have......does anyone care? I know I certainly don't watching a show about a boro restaurant. But they still don't seem to get it.

Thing is, these shows attract quite an audience, so the networks keep coming up with more outrageous and usually copied in someway shows. I rate most “reality” as utter crap; the Mole being the only exception to my list.

With most absurd trends that catch on, in whatever field of life, you always get the cluey people screaming "it's crap! it's crap!" Then after they think it can't keep going on, it then goes on for quite a bit longer, and at an accelerated rate.
Then it falls in a heap.

Agree totally. The Mole is and will always be the best reality show ever IMO..hope there is still another season this year with Grant still as host.
