Another ton for Maty Elliott@!!!
Whatta gun hey!
Come on you national selectors, youve gotta have some idea of what hes trying to prove here.
He wants another shot at a test berth, and i think hes showed the necessary form to warrant it.
Go u good thing!!!

1000+ runs, 5 centuries.
Still, would need to make 2000 runs in a year, just to put the Steve Waugh smear campaign to bed.
Would have played near on 100 tests by now if he was born in any other country.

I think it will take a lot for Elliott to remove the gnome from the selectors’ minds…

Langer or Hayden would have to get injured for him to get another shot. It could happen?

He's certainly in sensational form, and has been all season, but Elliott is a long way off a test berth. As the above poster mentioned, Hayden or Langer would need to get injured for Elliott to be contemplated for tests at the moment. However, if Langer has a bad tour of Sri Lanka, and Elliott finishes this season well, the change would definitely have to be be running through the Australian selectors minds.
Todays Hun had this years stats for Elliott and Hodge. Can someone tell me how Hodge has played one more innings than Elliott ?

If the bloke wasnt such a wa*nker maybe the selectors would pick him again...As it stands though, Elliott NTTA(never to tour again)

That never stopped Slats and Binga getting a game :D
But, I have heard that about Elliott, from ex-Camberwell Magpie teammates.
Obviously doesn't affect his game on the field though, so shouldn't really make any difference.

Why is he a ****er mate? Could be no worse than Williams, Warne and some of the other bogans in the australian team.

Elliott has had more than enough talent to have played much more test cricket over the years, and could now. but it would be a harsh call to give either Hayden or Langer the chop.
He'd be first in line if there was an injury to one of the two atm.

elliot missed two season with consecutive knee injuries and he also played about 30 tests which removed him from the domestic season, which is why dodgy hodgy has so many games...
elliot and hayden SHOULD be our openers, but hes a victorian, even got a victorian openers shnozz, and the victorian openers curse...the curse of the LAWRY

Very easy actually:
Langer plays for WA; WA are crap atm; Langer needs to spend more time playing for WA to make them look better. :D
Nah, seriously I think the guys great and love seeing him in the team.
One of the best opening pairs in cricket!!

I must have been in a deep sleep when all this happened. What's the deal with Steve Waugh and Elliott?

Elliott refused to brownnose (hello JL), spoke his mind, Waugh didn't like it, and shafted him.

Elliott had a pretty fair run in the test team. He played 20 tests, but average in the mid 30's.
For a new guy trying to cement his spot in the team, going 6 consecutive tests without a half century and only two scores over 20, it was always going to see him copping the chop.
At the time Elliott was dropped. His averaged dropped from 50 to 35. At that same point in time Langer had worked his averaged from 20 to 35.
Over the course of the 90's (post Boon era anyway) it was always Taylor, Slater, Elliott, Hayden and Blewett fighting for the two openers spots. As it was, the two that played the most were Taylor and Slater and both had far superior recrods than the other three over that period. Since than Hayden has found his feet and established himself as the worlds premier opener and Langer has gone into the openers role and established himself as a more than competent cricketer.

if you look at that, it justifies the selectors as the two most succesful openers over the 90's for Australia were Taylor and Slater.
Elliott had moderate success.
Blewett struggeld when opening (29 average) and Hayden really struggled in the early days.
