View Full Version : Can Perrie kick around his body?

I have never seen Perrie have a quick snap at goal. All of our big forwards in the past (Modra, Jarman, MStevens, Welsh, Vardy) have been able to kick goals from various angles. Perrie on the other hand seems to only knows how to kick them from drop punts. I hope he's picked up some new skills over the summer.

There was an incident on Friday night that was identical of the one from the showdown last year (Rd22). He was about 5 meters in front and took a snap shot which just snuk in for a behind. He nearly kicked it out of bounds:p

I don't think that Modra, Jarman, Weslh or Vardy were big forwards......

I don't care if Perrie kicks goals as drop punts, screw punts or pie floaters, as long as he kick them :D

Well I didn't mean literally physically big. I mean big as in able to kick lots of goals.

dont bag the sarge......he will be a GUN forward this season.......l predict 50 plus goals......mods was a special player ....and jars wasnt a forward .....he went there because he was "just jars"

ian perrie will kick 50 - 70 goals this season.......give him a go and dont bagg the sarge

I'd expect 35+

he is a big forward the others weren't. it means he is a grab and set shot forward. as long as he takes the grabs he'll be fine...

35 odd goals is a reasonable expectation.

No doubt that Sarge will get most of his goals from set shots & where possible should hand of to others to do the snapping. Jars worked miracles with his set shots, so perhaps he can do wonders with kicks around the body too.

I don't believe we should be relying on Sarge to kick 50-70 goals, but rather have many contributors (ie. Carey, Welsh, S Stevens, M Stevens (hopefully), Roo, Macca, Birdman, etc).

I'm with you on the 50+ goals, providing Sarge has no injuries, and Ayres doesn't have a brain fart and play him in the backlines.

Perrie is in for a big year - he really believes in himself now. If he kicks 2 to 3 goals per game he'll have 50 up before the end of the minor round, barring injury.

Jars should get a medal. He has given Perrie a set routine for kicking set shots and he doesn't miss too many now after being originally one of the worst kicks in the comp.

But under pressure, he kicks in his old style because he can't use the Jars taught routine, and that can be very ugly.

Fortunately, his strong marking and fast leading ensure that most of his shots are set shots.

1) Our forward line structure won't allow it. Perrie will always play 2nd fiddle to Welsh
2) Perrie is not a 50+ goal player. He is a good competitor who is good for 35 odd goals in a very good season. Lets not forget that last year Perrie had his best season and only managed to kick 26 goals. He would have to have have a 100% better season to kick 50 odd.

Last year he was our focal point all year and only kicked 26 goals (including finals). If Welsh and Carey play majority of the year, Perrie becomes 2nd or 3rd option. If they are injured and he becomes 1st option he will still find it very hard to kick 50+

Last year Perrie played a lot of his games at CHF because of the absence of Carey and Stevo. Also Carey was originally the FF and Perrie the CHF. This year I expect him to spend most of the year at FF.

I'll stick with the 50+. ;)

I'll stick with the 50+. ;) Perrie only played CHF when both Stevo and Carey were out. Once one of them was available (Carey for majority of the year) Perrie was back to FF.

I hope you are right but I just can't see him kicking 50 odd for the reasons I mentioned above. If everyone was fit Perrie becomes 2nd or 3rd option behind Welsh and Carey. If Carey is out injured/suspended, Perrie moves to CHF.

Either way it doesn't translate into 50 odd goals from Perrie especially since he can't kick a snap shot to safe his life.

IMO I think Carey and he will rotate between CHF and FF, which will reduce his opportunities to kick the 50-70.
Still looks like improving on last season, and thats what you hope for.
