With Anthony Rocca out in Round 1, who will be the fill in?
If the Magpies go for experience, then Steve McKee would get the nod, but i certainly hope not.
Saturday's game vs Sydney was a good sign for some young players.
Cameron Cloke showed some promising signs and will add height to the forward line and share the load with Fraser as will Ben Kinnear coming of the bench.
Tom Davidson showed some good patches and was due this time last year so he might get in.
Bo Nixon really impressed me and he has a chance for a debut this year, but probably not this game.
Guy Richards has a key part in the squad, been there 3 years so has impressed the coach and looks ready.
Or will they just put Tarks in.
Roughly the replacements from the 2003 GF side will be:
In
Richards
C Cloke
Lockyer
Out
Kinnear
Lonie or Shaw or Davis
Walker
(Richards 1st ruck, Fraser forward, Cloke on the bench)
When Rocca returns C Cloke or Richards will make way.
I'm with you Hotpie. Judging by Saturday, Leon is safe and Lonie is in strife. Of course the side won't be picked on Saturday's showing.

Out: Kinnear, Walker
In: Lockyer, McKee
Walker replaced by Richards - he has to be a better option
Kinnear by anybody, but say C.Cloke
R.Shaw probably won't be fit replaced by H.Shaw

Still have the audacity to say something like "Kinnear off the bench" even though close to full list availability....
Classic
Out Kinnear In Richards
Out Shaw (injured) In Lockyer
Out Walker In Cloke (Cam)

I swear that if the names Williams or Kinnear are on the team list that we are already playing for draft picks. I would be happy to give any of our new youngsters a game in front of BK, at least they deserve a chance, he has had his several times.

He wasnt a star, he was a bit player who fulfilled his role at Collingwood well. Lockyer slots right into his void and is a better player all round.
And of course he will be top in their B&F...Carltons list are made of one gun player, a few handy ones, kids... and the rest are recycled.
In:
C. Cloke
Richards
Lockyer (if fit)
Out:
Scotland
Kinnear (please)
Johnson/Shaw (if injured)
Nixon has impressed me, I thought he'd be a bit lost and wouldn't be ready until next year since he was big enough to be Centre Half Forward in the TAC leauge but too small to be a KPP in the AFL and would take a lot of adjusting too.

uess, i liked scotty but he was not a star. He couldn't string the games together which will be his downfall at Carlton eventually too. He will also now attract a better quality run with defender due to Carltons lack of depth. But time will tell.

Not being bias,
But i think Kinnear will be used off the bench for his height, strength and enthusiasm to the forward line, He can also help out Fraser in the ruck.
We will have to see how Cam Cloke plays in NT to see if his Pre-Season form continues to determine a senior spot.

I think not! The man has had his chances, give someone else a go. He has not shown that his is yet worthy of a spot and if we cant find room for guys like McGough then BK can't claim one either.

How many time do i have to tell you GlovemanGayfer. Ben's commitment to the club over the years has been well recognised both on and off the field.
I am a fan of Mark McGough's ball magnetism, but not his ball handling - and that is why he is not in the side.
And if you think Ben is not even VFL standard, your right - he is at AFL standard because whenever he does not play, he will have a day out at Willy.
Some trivia Gayfer, - Which player got STRAIGHT back into the side for Finals Football after Ankle surgery??
Umm I think it was BEN KINNEAR!!!
Yeah, Benny Boy ripped Brisbane a new one in the Grand Final
And he absolutetly starred in the Finals leading up to it

Yeah, played his 3rd or 2nd best game for the club in the Preliminary Final. Better than most the Collingwood players on the Saturday against Port. Didn't dissapoint in the Brisbane QF game, and his match against Essendon was the same.
As for the Grand Final, no excuses. As for the rest of the Pies players, bar a couple, he showed promise in the first 5 minutes, as did the rest until he spent the rest of the time sitting on the pine.
I think you should really think of what you write before thinking your a smartass while cleaning the rest of your remaining teeth.
Hmmm...... your or you're as in you are.
Never mind you will pick it up after you leave school.
You keep raving about Kinnear and it shows eveyone your (see how it is used) intelligence level.

I wonder how MM keeps his job given that there are so many who know more about football than him.

do we really want 25 year old players who just "show promise?"
