View Full Version : Disapointing news regarding the ABC sports news from Sydney
onslaught

I thought the public outcry regarding this had stopped it dead in its tracks.
Unfortunately it looks like its been pushed through regardless. Angela Pippos got the flick as a sports presenter, and is now working as a journalist hoping to get a story on their national sports package.
You might not see a change for the first year in terms of results, but sooner or later, you won't see scores from state leagues, and you will be getting the limited sports coverage they deliver to Sydney. :(

Typical isn't it, just to let it go, hope people forget about it, then strike in one foul swoop as quickly as possible.
For shame ABC, for shame

They showed the ABC Canberra bulletin into Melbourne tonight because staff in Melbourne are on strike. I'm sure Victorian's loved hearing the Canberra weather and how the NRL first round went - apparently Canberra won. But what happened in AFL?
The VFL and other state coverage will be next to get the flick. But its good that so many high profile people are joining the protest against the ABC tomorrow.
I have followed the link from above, gone to the complaints section and given my eight cents worth
I suggest that all other lovers of local footy (regardless of state) and local sport in general do the same.
Also for those who are feeling a little more millitant
The people who made this decision are based at the following contact points
News and Current Affairs:
ABC Ultimo Centre
700 Harris Street
Ultimo 2007;
GPO Box 9994
Sydney NSW 2001
Phone (02) 8333 3089
Fax (02) 8333 4551
They will be getting a few " Sack John Cameron" faxes from me tomorrow & I hope YOU WILL ALSO CONSIDER making some direct communication over the next 24-48 hours to even further force the pressure for change.
NB - John Cameron is the Head of ABC News & Current Affairs who thinks he can ignore the overwhelming wishes of the people he works for ie US & has decided to go against the wishes of the prime minister, opposition leader, 3 state premiers and almost every sporting organisation in the country let alone their members and fans.

Sent them a quick note, I get the feeling it's futile but everyone should let 'em know anyway.

The best is to tell them how bad the segment really is apart from anything else its just second rate TV sports reporting and out of date by the time it gets to air.
More like the 1960s than 2004.

If the report from Sydney would make it from the 60s then the report tonight that was done by the bloke in the Adelaide studios took it back to the 40s.
I purposely tuned in tonight to see what it was like and the Adelaide bloke stuttered and stammered worse than KG.
Bring on the Sydney report I say!
