Was our poor kicking on the weekend just a one-off or part of a longer term problem?

Seems Murphy's kicking is still ordinary and from memory Rawlings' accuracy was a concern last season too, to name a few.

Kicking is a skill like any other. If it's properly practiced, it improves.

Our kicking skills were poor last year and on evidence to date, whatever work we have put into this area does not appear to be very effective.

Too may of our short kicks are floaters - they need to be drilled.

Too many of our players kick poorly when running at pace - the only conclusion I can draw is they simply don't practice kicking at pace enough.

Doesn't anyone remember the first 7 rounds of 2002!! We lost 4 games in that time (Adelaide, North, Melbourne, Collingwood)through nothing but poor kicking for goal. These games were almost the straw that broke Plough's back. Judging by our pre-season, kicking for goal seems to have not improved. It absolutely must, otherwise we will be in for some more heart-breaking losses this year. No point taking 20 marks inside 50 and kicking 9.16.

34 goals 32 behinds in 2003, don't know about his out on the fulls though.

He took 158 marks including 10 or more in 7 games. His tackle count at 8 is very low, but he finishes in the positive in free kicks for and against.

Of course that was his first year when he's played predominately as a forward. He also got out on the park for all 22 games.
