Let's have a tipping comp.
I plan to run it via optusnet at this stage unless there are better suggestions. Will require a simple sign up process for all competitors. Gives options of reminder emails, and will automatically collate them for us.
Post if interested as i won't bother creating a league for us if nobody is up for it.
PS: Please sticky this thread Mr. Mod LY or OS. :)

Go to bottom right of page and enter 'bf bulldogs'.
Make sure 'AFL' box is checked.
Click on 'Find my comp'
If the league is found (it will be) with me as administrator, enter the password 'jade'.
Click on 'join this comp'.
If you haven't signed up personally yet make sure the correct box is checked and click 'join comp'.
Fill in your details, and make sure you check the 'use alias' box and enter your bigfooty username, otherwise we won't know who you are.
If you have any probs post them here and we'll sort it out.
Any suggestions on how to get some sort of prize going for winner? Money is obviously not a great idea given the lack of face to face contact. Rocco has suggested a bear for the winner, any better ideas? Obviously something that can be done via the net is preferrable.

Prize idea.
A nominal fee of $1 or $2 each, going towards a voucher at the bulldog shop, so we will be helping the club :).
Getting everyones money together may pose a problem, but most people on this board will meet another person from bigfooty at some point during the year, so maybe via degrees of seperation we can manage to get everyone paid up?
Also, can you get vouchers at the bulldog shop?

I do have A$2 in coins left over from my visit two years ago I could send. Then again, I could send you a cheque for US$1.50 but how would I get the 2c back? Maybe you could donate it to the players post season trip fund!

You are showing up now, so you are in. Did you do anything since i last mentioned it? Note: You are automatically in the overall comp as well.
It means i can put ur tips in for you. Designed for comps where everyone may not have access to the website. Don't select it, as its a part of the premium package, and as you have to pay for that, we'll only have it til round 4. If anybody knows they won't be able to get tips in any given week, just do them in advance, as you can tip future rounds at any time.
Curly you are still not showing up at this stage. Login in again, click on the link at the top 'competitions'. If BF Bulldogs isn't listed for you do a search for it, than enter the jade password.

That's the ladder at the season's end. Now, when do I get my bear? And make sure it ain't Tony Ronaldson otherwise the postage to send it will cost too much.(Maybe you could get a loan from the club?) Why would I want a wannabee Richmond player bear anyway, Sporty? Yecchhh. Maybe you could send me a live one of them cute koala bears you people have living in your backyard trees. :D Or better yet, grab me one of them kangaroos that ate all of the Whitten Oval grass over summer. ;) (I think I've been away too long!)

Thanks sigscotty. I originally forgot to tick the alias box so my first tips are under my name and not my nick. So those tips that I put in for Rnd1 will be the same for the bf footy comp as for the other comp?
I hope I'm in now, sigscotty. So when I put my tips in, do they go into the general comp as well as your comp? (or is that what Larry asked? :o )

Larry - if you tick that box it means that the administrator can enter your tips for you. Problem is that you have to send your tips to administrator, so you may as well do it yourself in the first place. ;)

Yes. The reason i used this site instead of optus (its exactly the same sytem) is because we are all eligible for the overall prize, compared to the optus comp where only their customers are eligible for prizes.

We have 19 in the tipping comp at the moment.
I was just wondering why the people who haven't joined are yet to do so. Surely a tipping comp is attractive to anybody who is willing to spend time on an internet forum talking about footy.
Please don't make me sign up fake id's using prominent bulldog board usernames to help gain the comp credibility. :)

When it comes to money (or a bear in this case) there is no room for sentimentality. I tips 'em as I sees 'em. Unfortunately I tipped us to win the past two weeks. That changed twenty minutes ago.
The Principal of my school used to always tip against his team - Geelong. His reasoning? If the Cats won, he was happy. If they lost, he had it correct in the tipping, so it erased some of the disappointment of losing. The two of us were tied at the end of Round 21 1990 in the staff footy tipping comp. In Round 22 he chose West Coast to beat Geelong. I went for Geelong. He won. That was the winning margin for the comp. At least I was assured of keeping my job!

I obviously always hope we win but if I don't think we will I don't see the point in tipping them
Well, I wasn't going to, but I ended up tipping us, phew! :D
Well just as well I DID tip us because I didn't do too well with the rest.

I always tip the Dogs - though if it came to a close finish for decent $ at the end of the season I would go for whoever I thought would win. But no great chance of that ever happening!

I got my best result so far in the margin prediction bit. Only 1 point off! :)
However it was cos my tips didn't go in (presumably i didn't hit submit) so i only got 2 for the week. :(
