What's going on at Sunbury FC?.Apparently the Sunbury boys got drunk at Lorne and caused trouble in a pub there. We're not going back to Sunbury's "glory days"are we?

This is yet another example of poor behaviour and the fact there is yobbo culture at Sunbury FC.

It is an absolutely disgraceful example to setting for all the players in the under18 and juniors. Too much emphasis on the yobbo culture and alcohol means they keep getting themselves into trouble.

We are Rupertswood Football Club believe Sunbury should follow our example if they are to succesful off the field. As (quote) RDFL general manager, Neill Sharpe says 'I am aware that Rupertswood are one of the most professionally run local
football clubs'. This would not be said about Sunbury, now would it ?

Getting into trouble and related behavour is far from the glory days, it is simply a poor example to all in the football community whether it be in Sunbury or Timucktoo.

Ian McSladden (VCFL regional manager) and the board at BFL house must be wondering why they allowed Sunbury to rejoin the BFL.

Ian McSladden (VCFL regional manager) and the board at BFL house must be wondering why they allowed Sunbury to rejoin the BFL. 1-By "Glory Days" i meant when they got drunk and caused trouble for the RDFL and i was being sarcastic.
2-Rupertswood is a school based club and i wouldnt expect a "yobbo"culture coming from it.Especially as most of the players are too young to drink.
3-Sunbury has good administrators,it's just that the "yobbo"culture prevails among some players and supporters.
4-Agree with your comment on BFL's view.

Hi Bomber 2003,
Thanks very much for explaining why you took the particular stance on Sunbury and the behaviour that they displayed during time away in Lorne.

Rupertswood is now a full fledged senior club, with seniors and reserves now competing each week in the V.A.F.A D3n Section. We are also fielding tow under19 sides, one in section 2 and the other in red section (development grade).

We are still somewhat of a school based club, yet we actually have a lot of non Salesian College students playing for us now across all age groups, including seniors.

Look forward to reading more of your thoughts.

Ben mate listen shut up, you have little idea of the football culture at Sunbury as you have never played for the club or as far as i am aware ever played football so how can you pass judgment on a club you have never been formally involved with????.
Sunbury FC have many many fantastic players and it is the tiny minority that give the club the name it has, 1 thing is for sure Ben Sunburys under 18s would towel Rupertswoods senior side buddy. You might be able to shoot your mouth off about the clubs culture but its the on field success and history of footy clubs that make them special and that is where the buck stops at Rupertswood.
Playing D3 football in the ammos is nothing to be proud off, and any hopes of the club reaching the heights of the top grades in ammos are very unrealistic. The fact Rupertswood dont play players and are based outside off Melbourne will be the reason the club will always play crap footy.
There are not enough 'good' players in Sunbury to occupy both Rupo and Sunbury and the good players will often play for Sunbury simply because money is being offered and the standard of football is 100 times better.
Sorry Ben but if you want to pass judgment on Sunbury FC and base your views on the minority that effects the club we could state a lot of things that Rupo struggle with, ahhh namely on field success.

cheers

Tige 19,
Whilst I agree with your comments about the culture as I am not involved with the club, your comments about money etc are questionable.

In my opinion, players only want to be paid because they don't have a heart. Some of the players that only chase the money might sometimes demonstrate that they have no heart. You should play football at a local level for enjoyment, not money.

It isn't unrealistic we have a good junior foundation and this will pay off, it is just a matter of time.

If you are wondering why you are in lower, it's because in the ammos you can't just step in and dominate, it has taken some clubs years of trying to make the higher grades (namely the a and b grade).

I do have mates at Sunbury though and these are the kids who are well behaved, as well as having some respect for Rupertswood. Believe me, I had a high level of respect for Sunbury FC. However, this changed after the bahaviour of the seniors at the grand final. Mark Power has played at the highest level and the behaviour he showed was unbecoming of an elite football, having represented the VCFL against the VAFA last season at Barooga. Again, I lost even more respect (of the very little I had) after I heard about the behaviour down at Lorne which was disgraceful.

Why do Sunbury people same to dislike us Rupertswood people, is it because we are over confident or something ?

Sunbury would win easily against Rupertswood. Really how good is D3 Grade Football in the VAFA.

My north,
You pose an interesting question and tha fact is, the ammos doesn't really get that competitive or a good stand
ard of footy in general until about D1 and above.

Good point to bring up.

While i agree with some of your comments, there are actually 3 clubs in Sunbury.Remember the Rovers[Sunbury Kangaroos]?,i had some association with the Rovers for a number of years.Yes i know the Rovers had a bad reputation,on and off the field. But they tried, even had a FEW good players[eg Darko Dabrovsac,he played at Melton South for a time as well].

It was spoken about on last Wednesday to the umpires. FYI don't be uptight about it all. Unless you were involved.

About minding ur own business I will remember that when you come running to ask about why the umpires paid a certain free kick that involves your team losing a game that could have gotten you into a grand final.
