just been doing some stuff on the internet and had the tele on in the background on showtime.
One of the most whacked out movies i've ever seen was just on called "P.s. Your cat is dead"
I didn't even know the name of the movie till after i and that took the cake.
I started watching about 1/2 an hour into it and 90% of the rest of the movie was spent with a guy being tied down to some guys kitchen sink in an apartment.
And it really didn't seem to make any sense.
Couldn't tell if the guys were mates just being idiots (the were period were they'd yell at each other and the untied guy would put a gun to the others head, then there were periods were they would laugh and tell jokes.....)
review at: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245341/
what other movies have you guys seen which you think should be put into the new genre "weird"
and wondering if anyone else was watching this movie tonight and was thinking whether they had gone on the drink tonight and just not realized it............

A Clockwork Orange.
Plan 9 From Outer Space- Awful. Billed as the crappiest film of all time. So bad it's funny
A Clockwork Orange- Bizarro Kubrick, but one of the best movies I have ever seen
2001: A Space Odyssey- More bizarro Kubrick, and one of the worst movies I have ever seen
Jackass: The Movie- Well, it's got no characters and no storyline.
The Flodders- On SBS a while back. It's about an obnoxious Dutch family who get moved into a high-class neighbourhood because of a toxic spill or something. Hilarity ensues.

Teenage Catgirls on Heat - the title says it all really!
Spawn
Secret Window- good but in a bizare sort of way, interesting what was really happening

Those who have NOT seen "Cube" know more about it than those who have. Ugly characters, a plot with no beginning, and precious little finalization.
It leaves you with the belief that you have been sitting on a lump of poo, but couldn't move.
Strange, strange movie

They made several sequels too, including one where they went to America, and several actors got cycled through the same cahracters a few times. High quality Dutch T&A.
There is a movie called Plan 10 From Outer Space that has nothing to do with Ed Wood's, but something about Mormons being aliens plotting in Salt Lake City. It's so bad it's crap.

Another really weird movie BUT excellent is Lost Highway by David Lynch
A Clockwork Orange rocked too....years ahead of its time.

Ken Park is the wierdest movie i have seen in some time if not ever. Parts of it border on XX porn with chicks well worth watching ,but the overall themes are very wierd.

I really liked that movie.
Since when does originality automatcally mean 'bizaare'. ''Cube'' was one of those movies which was labeled with the 'what were the producers on when they.....', but imo the movie was highly entertaining purely due to its originality. Creativity spawns brilliance. It never fails.

Most appropriate post here. Most of the others aren't genuinely weird.
I'd add in that Spader film Car Crash. ???? title?

Saw that at the old AMP theatre in the city in the early 80s. Perhaps the slowest and most infuriating film ever made, but strangely hypnotic.
A few more oddities to add to the list -
Romeow and Juliet - a version of the Shakepeare play done entirely with cats.
Bill and Coo - A tale of life in a small mid-western town, a little like an old MGM Mickey Rooney flick...but done entirely with birds.
Possession - perhaps the strangest film I've ever seen. Sam Neill is married to Isabelle Adjani and things are not going well between them. He reckons she is having an affair and she is...with an octopus. Or something.
Little Otik - A couple discover they cannot have children and the wife is quite upset. So hubby hacks a branch off a tree and they push it around in a pram, treating it like a real baby. It comes to life and then things get strange.
Holy Mountain - on a similar plane to "El Topo" with the same director (Alejandro Jodorowsky). Check out his Santa Sangre and Tusk, too.
The Beast - an extremely perverse tale of bestiality combined with a 70s art-porno veneer fromt he guy that hit big with Immoral Tales.
Max, Mon Amour - Charlottle Rampling falls in love with a chimpanzee.
The Last Movie - After "Easy Rider" hit big Dennis Hopper was given a blank cheque and the result was this indecipherable mess of a "statement" that wrecked his directing career for years.
Weird movies, but I like em...
The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover
Delicatessen
Les Enfants Du Paradis
Ninth Gate
Rosemarys Baby
no apostrophes because I cant be stuffed switching this PC back to normal language mode right now

Didn't think Bad Boy Bubby was that weird. "The Cars that Ate Paris" was the weirdest Aussie Film I can remember.
Theorem, Medea and Pigsty by Pier Paolo Pasolini are weird little films that I still have a little trouble understanding. Stunning films to watch, and very hypnotic, but after 10 or so viewings I still have little idea of what's going on.
Blow Out (La Grand Bouffe) by Marco Ferrari is a film about 4 guys a prostitute who try and kill themselves by stuffing their faces. They do nothing but eat, eat and fart through the entire 90 minutes.
But without a doubt the weirdest films I have ever seen is Themroc. It's about a French worker who gets bored with the dreary 9 to 5 existance, so he and his sister bricks in the doorway to his bedroom, and knocks out the back wall and begins living life like cavepeople. The even begin communicating like cavepeople with grunts instead of language. Then the rest of inhabitants of the Apartment block and the adjacent apartment block begin doing it as well. Very, very weird. It was shown on SBS about 10 years ago.

Rip off of ""Twilight of the cockroaches" (http://www.armchairempire.com/AnimeReviews/twilight_of_the_cockroaches.htm)" which was a bizzare enough movie in itself.
'Pi' Judaism, Mathematics, stock markets, conspiracy and paranoia. Add up to one weird (but like the Cube quite compelling) film.

This topic starts, and ends with this movie - Tetsuo (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0096251/)
Watched it on the weekend, absolutely bizarre. About a bloke who accidentially kills a metal fetishist and then turns into metal himself while being hunted by the possesive demon of the metal fetish guy who moves from person to person. His penis turns into a massive drill - full of sexual imagery and violence - Japanese, black and white.
Absolutely bizarre.
Not usually my cup of tea - "Right place, right time" - well, kinda...

If you want to talk about bizarre Japanese films, try and locate any film from the "Guinea Pig" Series. Incredibly gross, stomach churning don't no whats. If you can sit through an entire film, you are a pretty sick puppy.

Amen to that. Charlie Sheen started a panic about snuff films in the US when he gave one to the FBI because he thought it was real. Flowers of Flesh and Blood I think it was. Too many minutes of some guy dressed as a samurai cutting a girl apart.

Two bizarre and I mean bizarre as f**ked up psychological problems rather than weird 'what is going on with this'!
1. Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls. Totally whack! Although I love Russ Meyer's work.
2. The Doom Generation with Rose McGowan. Great film but the script writer is obviously a seriously sick puppy.
Fight Club is quite bizzare the first time you watch it.

Some of my favourite bizarre movies not already mentioned...
Maelström
Abre Los Ojos (Much better than Vanilla Sky!)
The Book of Life (OK, not too bizarre but a great film!)
Fantastic Planet (a disturbing 70s sci-fi animation)
The Secret Advebtures of Tom Thumb
I know there are more, I will add some when I remember ;)

Casablanca with Humphey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman is very weird. Starts off as a conventional WW2 love story, then two thirds through the film there's a scene where for no reason at all everybody in the bar starts singing the Fitzroy club song. In French. Then back to the love story. What was going on there??

Well, the film WAS made in 1943...a year before the Lions' last flag.
A Japanese movie I mentioned in another thread recently is called Audition. It is on SBS tonight (Friday) and is worth watching for anyone that doesn't mind something that is a bit bizarre and a bit disturbing.
It would come under the horror genre and it has a real psychological edge to it.
It has a long build up and apart from a couple of early signs you would have no idea of the 'horror' that comes later in the movie.
The build up certainly sets the tone well for the last part of the movie which certainly will hit you like a tonne of bricks, expecially if you don't know what's coming, which is the best way to go into this movie.

Yeah...gut wrenching stuff.
Had a very hard time sitting through a certain sequence in that film, not just because what had happened, but the reasons for it. I wanted to yell at the screen - "No stop! he likes you! He really likes you!"

They Live!
Starring Rowdy Roddy Piper as a construction worker who joins a group of people who believe that aliens have taken over the world. They have these sunglasses that when they wear them, they can so see who is alien and who is human.
Some absolutely hilarious moments in this very bizarre movie!
