Over the last few weeks after the whole umpire situation was settled, senior coaches like Paul Roos and Peter Rohde have been saying things like

"Its 20,000 well spent."

Now I ask you, why aren't comments like that seen by umpires as insulting?

The umpires should start bitching about senior coaches putting a dark cloud over the game from their comments.

If Essendon get free kicks, the supporters of the opponent immediately assume its from 'bribery'.

I was in the Ess Vs. Syd crowd on the weekend, so many times I heard some yokel Sydney supporter yell out stupid comments.

That Dean Solomon free kick WAS THERE. They showed about 3 different replays of it from different angles. Both players were holding eachother, therefore the umpire calls play on, Solomons opponent puts his arm (loses his balance) around Solomons neck, and viola. The umpire called it as he saw it.

As for the 50 metre penalty. That was there too. The Swans player CLEARLY ran across the mark set out by the umpire. Now, Im not completely one eyed. The umpires made some terrible decisions on the weekend, and the Bombers had 2 more free kicks than Sydney.

*Sarcasm alert*

SURELY it needs to be addressed that the Essendon Football Club are getting a few more free kicks than before? I think its well-deserved IMO.

I agree with everything you say there Ben except the free to Solly was not there.

In the first instance as the ball was coming in, Solly was interfering with the Swans player while he didn't have eyes for the ball.

I can clearly see that AFTER the incident above the Swans player put his arm over the shoulder of Solly and this is what the free kick was then paid for..... but the first instance was a free against Solly.

Solomon decision was disgraceful, but it was the 50m penalty they gave away after that gave us a goal. The LM throw in the goalsquare can't really be helped if the umpire is on the blind side of the pack. Everything else was there imo. So we only got ONE goal courtesy of bad umpiring.

But, we missed a deliberate out of bounds by a Sydney player in nearly the exact same circumstances as the free given against Woosha in the 1st qtr. They also got a dodgey holding the man against Hird in the goalsquare which gave them a goal. That particular situation happens 10 times a game and doesn't get paid.

The Hird one was soft, but people seem to forget McPhee had the ball infront of goal (with rama next to him) after it rolled through underneath Jimmy anyway...

So you can't count that as one as well...
