Playing like we did today and without Harris, doubt it.

A very good possibility we can beat the Blues...we seem to like playing at Optus Oval and hopefully WE can learn from this and kick heaps of Goals and not points Grrrrrrrrrrr.

I reckon they will be pretty good ;) ;) :D :D , but we are still goin to win.
Depends which Western Bulldogs side takes the field.
If its the one with turnovers, bad disposal and abysmal kicking for goal like the one today, then no.
If its the side that can kick straight, show inner belief and play with incredible fighting spirit like we saw against North, then yes.

Fevola will be nowhere near as big a problem as Richardson. He's shorter, lighter, and plays more as a leading target than a wrestling type. He'll only kick a bag if the delivery is pinpoint, but Hargrave may not be a bad match for him (even if he is having a shocking season).
Put simply, if we kick straight, we should beat Carlton.
If not, well is Tambling still the hot tip for pick one?

Of course we can win. Agree with Leon, depends on the players' mindset.

put simply, if carlton plays to their best and the bulldogs play to their best, carlton will win easily.

Depends if they (Carlton) are tripping on anything when they take to the field?

We could beat Carlton easily if the boys just put it together for 4 quaters, but as that doesnt look like happeneing, no we wont beat them.
If we can play like we did against Brissy in the final quarter then you guys won't even be close.
But I don't think that will happen, the Bullies like playing at OO - but we have a 100% record so far this year. We want it to be a fortress again. ;) With Whitnall finding some form however, your back 6 is going to find it very hard to contain him along with Fevola, DeLuca and perhaps even Fisher (I like this kid).
I hope it will be a close game, although not good for your heart, it's good for football.

I can't see us winning this week in fact I have a feeling that we'll be absolutley embarrassed the Blues.

were we not in a similar position coming into the carlton game last year, a rabble not really going anywhere. A year on and here we are again.

Unfortunately i don't see how we are going to beat Carlton. In fact they will beat us by at least 6 goals.

I dont see any rational reason why we cant beat carlton. I didnt see any rational reason why we couldnt beat richmond.
A combination of epicly bad kicking for goal and a coaches blindspot with respect to rawlings (in fact its such a dumb move not putting rawlings on Richo in the third term that I am convinced that Rawlings is carrying some injury that prevent him from running fast)
Of course we can beat cartlon. Our midfield is superior. Our defence with grant and smith should be adequate to contain them. Our forward line...well....

Agreed. Fev won't be as big a mis-match because he is simply not a man mountain like Richo. Conversion of opportunities will be the key. Would like to see Street ruck for the majority of the game, and leave Darcy up forward. They haven't got a decent match up for Darc.

There aren't any rational reasons we can't beat Carlton.
I am confident we will find the irrational ones.
Due to the fact that Laurence Angwin isn't playing, the Bulldogs now have a very good chance. ;) ;) ;)
Now being serious with Chris Grant back in form down in the backline cutting of Fevola leads we should only lose by 100 points. ;) Alot is depending on the forward line and thier kicking boots. Nothing needs to be said about the Midfield except for the fact that they also need to be kicking well. I still can't see the dogs getting up in a close one but...

Is it at optus? we play well there, and the shorter ground should suit having darce playing near goal. Might be a bit congested for Patty Bowden, so I hope he will do a lot of work presenting between half forward and centre, rather than lurking for a shot on goal.

We will lose, and lose and lose and lose. If the board keep supporting Rhode I am going to be sick. It's like spitting in your fans' face. One thing that cannot be compromised even if the club is financially struggling is a good coach. That's where it all begins. Bad coach, bad team. If Rhode went to Brisbane I am pretty sure they would finish last.

I am very nervous about this week.If the guys come out a bit flat after being up for so long with little reward then the blues could steam roll us.Pagan loves to close the game down and bring it in close against us.You can guarantee there will be players everywhere around the stoppages and they will try and bash us into submission. We just have to match them in close and we will be able to outrun them IMO just like we did against alot of Pagans roos sides. He has them playing a very similar brand.
Defence
As usual the opposition key forward has ran himself into form the week before playing us (Whitnall) but given his lack of mobility I would go with Grant on him.I think we can exploit that match up.Fevola worries me a touch as he is absolutely devestating on the lead but on the tight optus oval we may be able to clog up his space if we can hold them up through the middle.Hargrave is probably a good option because he covers the ground pretty well but I think he could also do with being released into a more offensive role.Basset might get the nod again!
Midfield
As I said they will try and turn it into trench warfare at every opportunity and out muscle us.For this reason Scotty West will be important but equally we need guys like Hahn around the ball as often as possible. If we can get the ball out in the open and run with it they will struggle to keep up with us.We will probably tag one of Stevens or Camporeale. If its Stevens then IMO its probably Boyds last chance as a tagger. Its a good match up for him and theres no reason he cant restrict him.
Forwards-I reckon Carltons defence is a bit underrated. They are short for height but guys like Teague (who we should have chased) always have a dip and wont give up easy goals.Gotta watch Matty Lappin running out of here because he is one of there few players who will hurt us with his foot skills. We can certainly stretch them for height if we can get the right guys down there.

I've got a really bad feeling about this one. I believe we are a better side but I just don't think we have the heart to play hard competitive football. If they want to bash and crash us; chuck Hahn in the middle let him smash a few heads in. He's a big unit. Put Murphy and Eagleton on the wings and tell them to run and create.

Interesting to note the blues are now 1st in contested possessions which was a trade mark of Pagans teams at the roos.He simply doesn't except players not putting there head over the ball.

Don't forget Bret Thornton. He has been in fantastic form this year and will get the job on Rawlings. I don't think any forward has beaten him this year, apart from M Lloyd (who kicked 2.7).

Yeah I rate Thornton but I was more talking about the unheralded guys.Thornton will play 200 games and upwards IMO.

Now we know our team, how do you rate our chances? Tactics? Key match-ups? What's the weather like today?
I'm buggered if I can see how Rawlings can be fully fit. Hope they just park Minson in a FP and not on the bench.

The weather is looking a tad ordinary this morning, will not be suprised if it turns nasty by the time the ball is bounced.
With so many changes to the team its a bit hard to judge now what our chances are. Koops and Minson could be wildcards and add a fair bit of aggro to the team but in reality it is Minson's first game and I won't be expecting him to star (although a 5 goal debut with 10 contested marks wouldn't go astray :p )
We need to match them in close and keep generating plenty scoring opportunities like we have been so far this year. Conversion in the likley conditions will be an extemely important factor- we simply have to stop kicking ourselves out of the game. I have a feeling that goals will be a rare commodity today, with maybe Fevola being the only player to really kick a bag.
Can we win? Yes, if we can win it out of the middle, convert our hard work into scoreboard pressure and make sure that the space in the back half is clogged so that Fevola doesn't have yards to run into. Probably have to kick more goals than them as well;)

I really think we can beat Carlton without too much trouble, as long as we kick almost straight. The no Harris factor could be a problem but if we get someone to drop back then we should be fine. If I could place a bet over here, i would be backing us for the $2.00 win

Howdy people.
Dont normally post in an opposition team board but I cant believe the negativity of a lot of your posters. I dont believe Carlton is a certainty. You guys play OO well, as long as your midfield breaks even with us you will be in good shape. Play Darcy up forward as he will stretch our defence. I think Carlton will still win but it will be close. One thing you know you are going to get from the Bullies is an honest contest. Do that and you are a big show, And oh yeah, improve your kicking for goal (although I would like to see that put on hold for another week ;))
Hopefully it will be a better game than Williamstown Reserves Vs Woodville/West Torrens Reserves (oops sorry Collingwood v Adelaide) from Friday night
