Here is an edited extract from the Herald Sun of what the Hawk had to say about Rhode's coaching v Richmond,
...."former Bulldogs champion and club games record holder Doug Hawkins let fly at coach Peter Rohde over his tactics.
Richardson had four opponents before his original opponent, Scott Bassett, returned in the last five minutes with the game safe.
Bassett lasted until the 20-minute mark of the third quarter. Richardson's tally to that time was 6.2 and he continued his amazing run against Ryan Hargrave with three goals in less than half an hour.
Up in the K-Rock commentary box, Hawkins was amazed Rohde did not use the experienced Jade Rawlings, Richardson's brother-in-law back in defence.
"He's got no idea the coach (Rohde)," Hawkins said at one point.
When Hargrave was given the unenviable task, Hawkins said: "This kid is not a full-back. It's a joke, embarrassing . . . they're crucifying him."

Rawlings should have had first crack at Richo, Rawlings is clearly down on confidence, we need him on the ground. No better place to get your confidence than down back.
I'm am not one to be negative or bag anyone, But rhode is losing in his ability to instill beleif & confidence in the players.
My dog can't take much more of this ken disgraceful kicking
Agree with Dougie, Hargraves should not have been anywhere near richo

hargrave shouldn't have been anywhere near the backline.
Apart from his first year (under wallace) he has never looked like a defender. With the team struggling to kick it straight why not try the guy that kicked 5 last week and is sitting on the bench up forward.
instead we get
rawlings, street off
darcy from FF to fill the space in front of richo
hargrave on to richo
harrison into the ruck
peter rohde 'our mastermind' indeed.
i hate that banner, that was applicable when wallace was coaching. Now it just mocks us every week, please please get rid of it.

Hargrave had to give 6cms and 19kg to Richo.
Either his game at Werribee last week was so good he warranted a crack at Richo or our coach is a lame brain.
The later one would think.

Agree 100 percent.
That banner is embarrassing.

Hawk was a wonderful wingman and an outstanding servant of the club. He was hilarious on the Footy Show, one of the reasons I became a regular watcher. I haven't listened to him on K Rock so I don't know what he is like as a commentator. If he made the comment in his capacity of a radio commentator, well, that's his job. If he made it in his capacity of former great, well, he shouldn't have. What is to be gained by public criticism of the coach ? Rhode's future with the club will be determined sooner or later irrespective of Hawk's views. Now is not the time in the Club's history for former greats to add to instability.

Hawkins, was a great player with the Doggies..but, his criticisms regarding Rhode that he made will not win him any favours. He should try and spend a bit more time at the club if he wants to help, something which he has not done in awhile.

It's a pity our former greats won't do what Melbourne's did earlier this season, to show a bit of solidarity and boost the morale of the club.

The only reason Melbourne went through the show of solidarity exercise was because the club has had an amazing amount of in fighting since the attempted merger. We have no such problems.

Do you think our supporter base can be any more splintered over what the club is doing in every aspect at the moment???
How many internal arguments have he had here?
I assure you the footy world can only ignore the issues for so long, and by then the supporter base will have been so wound up that everything is going to flare up.
Former greats and internet chat will be so irrelevant to the issues that will appear

Supporters having different opinions on a wide variety of issues is a problem because...???
What issues is it that you refer to? Or are they just so damn explosive you have to keep it quiet for the good of humankind?
