I haven't seen the entire game yet, just catching up on it on fox footy right now; so what did everyone think?

I have only seen at this stage qtr1 and about half of 2nd early today on nine before they went to the north/power game  i could have seen the 2nd half after the power game, but have left it till now.

The positives after a qtr and a bit from me:
croad, bateman and vanders all look to be playing well, lonie is having a good one as well, and i don't want him traded like others have suggested.

negatives: not being able to see the 2nd half live on 9 :p

It was great to win!!!!

There's still plenty of work to do though.

Forward line still needs work. Vandenburg and Crawford were damaging. Lonie was great (his kicking is fantastic). Joel Smith was good on Pavlich but his kicking was horrible. Croad was excellent down back (he kicked an amazing goal from the wing). Spider was Spider (dependable, solid and awesome).

A lot of the youngsters really stood up yesterday and they were hungry for the ball. In fact everyone was hungry for the ball and that was the difference.

WELL DONE HAWKS!!!!

Yes Yardie. Our lack of talls up forward was obvious with Freo outmarking our forwards a plenty - particularly in the last quarter.

So it was the gritty performances of Vanders, Crawf, Bateman, Joel, Lonie, Beaumont was the major factor in our overdue win. Some of Trent's old dash from the back line was great- his goal was a gem - I was so pleased for him having a great game

And of course there was the usual sterling performance of Everitt - I believe he has shown so much more maturity in his game at Hawthorn.

There was a glimpse of the Barks we know pre long term injury. I liked the performances of Osbourne, Ladson and Kane.

Graham's tenacity in defence got us out of some tight spots.

Williams didn't have much of the ball but he does go at it hard on the ground and in the air for a small player. He is cheeky, I like it and he can be a son-of-a-gun as much as he likes as far as I'm concerned but get back to bagging 3 - 5 goals, lad.

There were others contributing. We have a fair way to go with overall skills but we must remember it was a slog down there as Freo knew our team would be desperate and I got the drift that they didn't know how to counteract some of our young players who had raised the bar on their previous performances.

Some really good signs.

And it was great to see Huddo and Leigh in the stand.

It was obvious that the intent was there this week to go straight down the guts at every possible chance they got. It did work, but it seemed they started to overuse the corridor at stages, and it got predictable. Lucky that Freo didn't exploit it and really get on top of us.

Still happy with the win, with some great performances. Changa played a blinder, was really happy with how he went. Croad also had a brilliant game, and how about that goal!

Still a lot of improvement needed, but mostly all of that is our forward line.

the forward line wasn't that great i will agree but at least the backline was good, perhaps thommo should come back into the side, at least he will provide a focal point, even if he doesn't mark it.

Maybe we should play Thommo at CHF to see how he goes.

Agree, Yardie. And leave him there to find form. The Thommo of old would give our team a focal point.

Agree with all of you blokes but before Thommo comes back they want to sit him down and show him footage of 5'11" Rick Ladson running back with total disregard for his safety, knowing he was about to get poleaxed by 6'11" Aaron Sandlands. Guts!!! That sort of leadership should be coming from a VC,not just from from one of yhe younger smaller blokes! Great stuff Laddo!! The boy can play a bit too!

finally we have had another win...!!!!....:D

lasher is a bit happier, hopefully we can do the swans in sydney again...a bit of confidence should help the boys ....

barker will have benifited from the run and should be better, croad will gain confidence, jacobs will be better after a few weeks out, crawford, vander confidence boost, ladson should be given another go,we should beat the swans who have now lost 4 and are not in form...the tiges did it in sydney so we should be able to do it aswell...

GO HAWKS..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at the game on Sunday and we had a go for once. Thats all I care is that we have a crack and they did. It was not a pretty game but a win is a win, but let me assure you all we are far from being a threat with this playing group under Schwab.
