I just cannot see us beating Essendon at the Dome, regardless of how well we are playing.
We just don't seem to matchup well on them, and they are also far better at the Dome.

I dont think we will win either, which is why it was great we won yesterday, because the next 2 are very tough games and wouldnt expect to win eith of them.
All we can hope for is what happened 2 years ago when we killed them by 39 points i think. They dont have hird and scarlett will hopefully hold lloyd, so anything is possible...
I'm very interested to see what the changes will be... Haynes, S. Johnson, Enright (got 40 touches in the reseves i heard???), Bartel (also played well in the reserves??) all should be pushing for selection.
Corey providing no illness should still play, i think D. Johnson maybe dropped, don't know who else tho, everyone did their job yesterday.

I sincerely hope Enright spends at least one (perhaps even two) more game in the VFL.

There is absolutely no chance of that happening.
35 Possessions, and from all reports, he was terrific and looked 3 leagues higher.
I agree though, he needs to spend a few more weeks in the VFL. Going in with King, Moloney (There still has to be a doubt over his ribs, judging by his performance on the weekend, and the injury he copped) Steve Johnson (assuming he plays) and Enright (Still lacking match practice) would be ludicrous against such a quality side.

We are definately a big chance against the dons.
We always match up well against them and we have a good amount of momentum and confidence.
Hird out could just tip the scales our way.
*fingers crossed*

No Hird, no Essendon?
I hope this is the case this week, although we should not underestimate the quality of other players such as Lloyd, Lucas, Jason and Mark Johnson, Fletcher, Ramanauskas, Solomon and co. They'll miss Hird for sure, but they'll still start favourites and rightly so.

I think the game will be won and lost on your half forward and our half back line... they have been our relitive strengths and weekness if u can slow or even stop the quick transition from defence to offence we have u will go a long way to winning this... i also think the clearences may be a problem for you... while i know u have gone very well in the past few weeks that is Essendons Major strength as i see it... while the runners may not be thier MJ JJ Solomon all get a lot of the close in tight ball and Essendon have the ability (via Murphey Rioli and McPhee) to hit people on the full ead where defenders arnt really given a chance... all things been equal we should win but u are in good to great form and we are coming back from traveling i won't be betting... unless Sebby wants to go a bet on Scarlett Lloyd then i might be interested for old times sake :P

4- Ling ( Stops a few crutial players)
3- Mooney ( Dominates all night)
2- Scarlo ( llyod = 0 goals )
1- Chappy + Tenace
afew other predictions:
Murphy to break his leg on a hot dog thrown from the essendon cheer squad :D
Barnsey to forget which teams his running for and deliver info to the wrong players.
Ben Graham to remember that he can kick 80m ( after a heavy bump from the goal post) so he finally does just that.
umpires to go color blind so we can actually get a fair go.
unless Sebby wants to go a bet on Scarlett Lloyd then i might be interested for old times sake :P
AS I said in the ever so enjoyable  Legal Studies, i won't be putting my money anywhere near my mouth this week ;)

May as well edit the thread title and make this one our official match thread for the game.

It goes without saying, but this week is the best chance we will get at knocking off Essendon.

well i don't know about all you other catterz fans but i am really pumped about this match! It gives us a chance to prove ourselves not only to Essendon but the whole AFL world then hopefully they might start believing that we can actually make the finals this year because at the moment our side is in great form, well most of them....on the weekend just about every player who played most of the match got 10+ possesions like im not saying that is great but it's a good effort for almost the whole team to get over 10. I'm over the moon that we might finally have a chance to make it to the finals this year it's a long way ahead but if we can win this week and keep it up it's going to be a great year. I think our win yesterday would have given everyone a bit more confidence in thereselves because they broke a 6 match winning streak for the demons and hopefully they can use that as motivation or something for this saturday night. I am really excited at the moment, and i am expecting a really close contest, well hopefully for our sake!

Oh yes, how? Don't those 6 straight wins count for anything and our thrashing of the Crows at Moron Park last week? You can't replace a player like James Hird, but that dosn't mean Essendon are suddenly 'vulnerable' because of one player absent. If you havn't noticed this year, we've had a much more even spread of contributors like Solly, McPhee, Jason Johnson, Rioli etc.
As Robert Shaw said last night "We'll just do our usual thing here this week and listen to everyone telling us we can't win without Hirdy and try and motivate our second tier players even more"...
Anyway looking forward to a good game on Saturday Night guys and girls, we're both in pretty good form and the still conditions at the Dome won't particulary favour any team I wouldn't think. Of course I'm going to tip my mob, but Geelong should give a very good account of themselves come Saturday Night I'm quite positive of that.

I think the dome favours your mob enormously. I have no doubts that you play alot better in the dome with no weather. That is what has found out a few teams like Melbourne, Adelaide & St. Kilda last year when they came to skilled. Havent adapted very well to the ground.
Meanwhile at the dome lloyd kicks goals as easy shelling peas. I think we'd be a much bigger chance at the MCG

i just got level 1 seats on the wing at the dome! lets hope its a ripper game. i like the cats but i wont be too upset if the bombers give you a thrashing. we need the percentage bad. after saying that i dont think its going to be a thrashing either way. i tip the bombers to win by about 3 goals. lloydy will kick 4. looking forward to seeing ablett jnr play as ive never had a good look at him in action. I would also like to see either kepler bradley or jobe watson be brought in . go bombers!

I like these dons supporters, they actually look at the game from an analytical point of view and not just bag the team. Well done.
Having said that, Our coach always gets fired up for these games and this one is no exception, expect both to be fired up, but the power of the cat will see us home.
I hope anyway. hahaha. Go Gees.

GO CATS
Rooke and Haynes in for DJ and Sando (posterior cruciate ligament apparently). One who have thought Enright and Callan would be ahead of Rooke  .

After watching Callan in the VFL yes, yes you would.

great to be able to see two in-form teams battling it out on saturday night. cats usually win these games - when they get on a roll and come up against a more fancied team. should be a great match and GO CATS!!!
