I decided the other day to try to work out how many matches I'd been to see, with Fitzroy or a Fitzroyesque team involved. I'm actually a bit of a late starter, seeing one match in mid-teens with my family, on a trip down to the big smoke, and then not starting to watch them regularly until I moved to the city, in the late 80s.

So I'm a bit of a 'anybody remember this guy' sort of bloke, not exactly a veteran. Here's my stats, as well as I can remember them :

Fitzroy
1986 - 1
1988 - 2
1989 - 11
1990 - 9
1991 - 1 * playing for Cheltenham
1992 - 17
1993 - 18
1994 - 21
1995 - 17
1996 - 15
Total - 112

Coburg(-Fitzroy)
1998 - 1
1999 - 15
2000 - 13
Total - 29

Fitzroy Reds
1999 - 1
2000 - 2
2001 - 6
Total - 9

Finals - Fitzroy Reserves - 3

Grand Total - 153

I'm sure a few of you folks can at least double these figures. Why don't you give it a burl, and see what you come up.

Mobben', don't think I can actually add up mine as I started going in 1953, with my Dad, but began going to all games in about 1958, then really serious in the very, very early 60's, and Helen didn't miss many from 1982, when she started watching footy.

Great idea Mobbs, so I pinched it and did the same on the Roos board. :D

206 senior games here BTW.

Levo, try a bit of subjectivity.

I grabbed 'Every Game Ever Played', and for each year :
Counted the ones I knew I went to, then
Decided I would have been to about x more games that year, even if I didn't know which ones.

We can't remember every game we've been to, although if we're like Darky and have a program from each one, it might be a bit easier!

Subjectivity? Mobben' didn't bring all that sort of stuff to the UK what do you think, only got a one bedroom flat, not my bloody house to house everything in. And yes I do have footy records going back to 1912 when players numbers were introduced.
Just purchased on E-bay a set of 'duffle coat' name tags from the 80's, $25 for 13 of 'em.

My method was pretty simple - get a Grand Final Footy Record with the fixture from every year (with scores completed). The scores often helped to jog the memory.

Hardest to remember were 1997-2000, because of the on and off nature of my attendance (due mainly to work commitments). From 1991-96 was easy because it was just a case of subtracting all games outside of Victoria.

Mobbs, I do have Footy records from all but a few of the games, and have had mates buy me a spare in rounds where the Roos have played interstate of had the bye. I haven't bothered much with them in the last 2 years, don't really know why.

I suppose the interest in the Record was highest in my early days of going to the footy - not knowing much about the players, stats, reserves and thirds results, etc etc, the record was really informative and helpful. These days it doesn't tell you too much that you don't already know.

OK, I'll give it a go:

Fitzroy (VFL/AFL)
1982 - 8
1983 - 10 (including first semi loss against Essendon)
1984 - 5 (including elimination final loss against Collingwood)
1985 - 4
1986 - 2
1987 - 6
1988 - 5
1989- 10
1990- 14
1991 - 3
1992 - 11
1993 - 10
1994 - 8
1995 - 7
1996 - 6
TOTAL - 109

Coburg-Fitzroy
1999 - 4
2000 - 8
TOTAL - 12

Fitzroy Reds (Amo's)
2000 - 2
2001 - 7 (thus far)
TOTAL - 9

TOTAL - 130

Mmm, numbers could've been better if studies didn't intervene during some of these years, still not a bad number!!!!

Cheers,
FitzroyRamone

No-one else wants to give it a burl?
