I told this to dee_girl last night - but haven't had a chance to let you all know........

Up here in Brisbane we found it atrocious what was done to the Ox on Thursday night. There is no way that any player of any calibre deserves what happened. And besides the 'pie' itself, the belittling of the 150 game milestone was very wrong....

So last night we made the banner for the game, and we use the 'visitors rooms' (well for this weekend I suppose we should call it the home teams rooms) to make it.

The Lions C/squad actually left a message, painted on paper - but taped to the whiteboard - in Melbournes 'meeting room' next to the warm up room etc......

It was address to Schwarta....and congratulating him on his milestone last week, asking him not to feel degraded by what happened on Thursday night, and telling him he handled it admirably (and of course the obligatory "you gave him what he deserved" comment).

Regardless of the fact that our 2 teams are going head to head this weekend, at times like this, it is important that players know they are liked and respected.

Danni,

i was rather chuffed when i read your message, and it is great that u have done that. i know that Schwarta is a man who would appreciate what u guys have done, and would be rather touched by it.

and it is great to not only see the lions cheersquad supporting him but to all the other supporters from other teams who have been on David's side through all this.

i know that he isnt an angel, and that he has said and done some stupid things both on and off field, but is a mark of everyone who has been able to see past that and realise that what happened was wrong. i initially thought on friday o would get on here and everyone would be against him for what happened in the past, but in fact it was the other way around.

Thanks all and especially to the Lions cheersquad, that was a fantastic thing you guys have done, and looking at my watch they would be training up there right now, so he has probably already seen it. :)

thank you danni,

i don't think many other teams would have done that. especially when we are playing in their state.

also, thank-you for being decent about it, because of that incedent, it would have been alot easyer to continue bagging him and the club, but you didn't, so thank you.

good luck for the tomorrow, hopefully it will be a good match for both sides!

GO DEES!!!

I should say that P.H. (intials only), had the idea, and did it herself, but we supported her and agreed fully with the sentiment. Let's just hope no cleaners were in there today or after we left last night (around 8pm I think), and took it down.

I was proud of the fact that the ppl there last night felt so strongly about it. I think those that laugh it off really need to put one of their 'favourites' in his place and then see how they react.

Anyway good luck for tomorrow - hopefully will be a good game. Just hope my lot remember to come out and play......

ummmm......anyone knw who is wearing what colour shorts????? In case you havent' noticed.....put the white ones on our blokes and the leave their ability behind.......just sorta hoping that is an actual 'forget to pack it in the suitcase' thing.........

cause if they wear 'white' tomorrow....I would hope to hell they are smart enough to realise they didnt' have to pack their suitcase........LOL

Danni,

When something like that is done, you start thinking how important it is to support players regardless of what team they play for.

What you did was truely great and knowing the players i am sure that they too appriciate it a hell of a lot.

Obviously what you did or the white shorts you wore had no affect what so ever over your game, so yeah congrats you played really really well.
