I think Baggy's problem will be that he wasn't as well known all over Australia as players like Robran, Ebert, Head, etc. Certainly within SA he is one of the greats, but I'm not sure the idiots on the Hall of Fame coselection panel would know that.
This may sound strange to some, but an excellect Hall of Fame selector would be Dermott Brereton. He has a wonderful knowledge of the game Australia wide (if you don't believe me just read his books), as well as the necessary experience to appreciate a truly great player.
A player like Bagshaw who played in 7 premierships, 374 games (360 Sturt, 14 SA), 8 years as captain and 5 best & fairest awards over 17 seasons would certainly impress Dermott.

I didn't realise that Bagshaw won five best and fairests for Sturt, that is a measure of how good he was when you consider the players he played with and the success that they had.
Russell Ebert "only" won five best and fairests in a side that was very good but generally not a match for the great Sturt sides.
I know that I have a bias but Barrie Robran winning seven best and fairests in his first seven years at a then strong club is the most remarkable consistent individual effort I have seen in my time of watching SANFL footy. A pox on Leigh Matthews.

Let's face it, if it wasn't for injury Robran would probably have won 12 Best & Fairests for North Adelaide as well as 5 or 6 Magarey Medals. IMHO. :)

Imagine if Barrie had got through injury free to around age 36, he would have made a good on field mentor for that little Jarman fellow that started up around then.

He wasn't known as 'Mr Magic' for no reason at all. Might've had a Margarey or three if there wasn't so much talent in the Double Blues sides of the late 60's and 70's to 'steal' votes off him.
