Well I gave my opinion of my best Roys team. What do you think of my not so best team ? I didn't put blokes in like Jeff Hogg, Gavin Exell, John Rantall or John Cassin. These blokes could play, but they were past their best when they became Roys.
B: Frank Bizzotto. Terry O'Neill. Daryl Cox
HB: Dean Lupson. Jamie Bond. Tom Kavanagh
C: Wayne Lamb. Mark "Mick" Dwyer. Michael Coates
HF: Jason Ramsay. Brad Edwards. David Donato

R: Graeme Williamson. Noel Mugavin (Capt.)

Talk about opening a can of worms!
I guess you left out blokes like Alan Sidebottom, Peter McCormack, David Bain & Roger Delaney for similar reasons to Hogg & Exell.
I think you've been a bit harsh on some of the others, especially Mugavin & Cox. I'd drop those 2 & promote Brad Davis & Justin McGrath.
Frank Bizzotto could take over the captaincy.

I disagree with you on a few here.
Dean Lupson was quite a talented footballer, i wouldnt put him in my worst team just my aggressive team.
David Donato was also talented, and i thought he had a future right up until he did his knee in the fosters cup in 92.
Brett Cook went onto play in a GF side in 97 with Stkilda and you put him in your worst team?
Mark Trewella won 2 reserves best and fairests and played a big role in our reserves winning side of 89. I thought he also had talent which went to waste.
In reference to ur team then i would drop the 4 players i have just mentioned. I would promote Jeff Hogg, Matthew Bourke, Brian McInness and Robert McMahon.
I would make Andrew Cavedon the Captain, the Coach and the President, because he was nothing short of the biggest waste of space we ever recruited.

It is definitely harder to pick the "worst" team. Yere with Brett Cook, I thought we stooged the Saints there. Maybe he wasn't in the "Brad Davis" or "Dizzy O'Connell" class, but I don't I ever saw him do anything good on the footy field.
Justin McGrath & Matthew Bourke (I don't want to play for Fitzroy) were ordinary I agree. What about the trade of Matthew Armstrong for Grant De Mamiel ??? He never played a senior game did he ?
Another name I just thought of was Larry Donohue. I think he played 1 night game for us 82, before doing his shoulder. I still shudder when I think how he cost us in round 22 1979 at Kardinia Park. We needed to win to get the double chance. At about the 25 minute mark of the last term, we lead by 27 points. Donohue hit his straps & kicked 4 I think. Malcolm Reed kicked the sealer with a flukey goal. It was a shattering way to miss the double chance.
It was a longer than usual trip home that day.

I would like to nominate peter "steel spine" sartori as the starting ruck. His inability to bend was breathtaking for a league footballer.Another big block who should be included is Dean Farnham, totally useless.

There just has to be room for Jeff Hogg...I'd make him captain. And what of David Bain, our return on the Lynchy Brisbane deal of 1993?
And one bloke who should probably make it just cause he was the most inconsistent, frustrating, wasted talent running around in the early to mid 90's - John McCarthy. He was talented - he just couldn't be bothered applying himself. I'd make him vice-captain to Hoggy.

Maroon Boy, you make an excellent piont about John "the not so great" McCarthy.
I would have him in the team on one quater alone,it was just 'sensational'.
The week after we beat Freo we played North on the Friday night at the 'G.During the 3rd quater -i think - (nth where kicking to the city end)McCarthy managed to allow his direct opponent to kick at LEAST 9 goals on him.It was farcical!!!!McCarthy kept getting moved between Longmire,Carey and McKerann.Whichever player he moved on to just kept kicking goals.
The best game I ever saw McCarthy play was the game Vs Brisbane after the merge was announced and the word was that Brisbane would be picking some players from the roster - he looked like he was playing for his career.
I have a mate who constantly reminds me of the time Craig Bradley got 40-odd touches even though he was being 'tagged' by Frank Bizotto, I think it was '95.

Didn't Frankie get suspended in a local league for whacking an umpire ? The best game I saw McCarthy play for Fitzroy (apart from kicking 7 goals against Sydney in 93) was against Melb. at P.Park. We won by a point. McCarthy was B.O.G. He wasted his talent, always trying to take mark of the day.
Another wasted talent was Brendan "Billy" McCormack. He could really play. Remember that 1 handed mark in the forward pocket against the Crows in the 1992 night semi final. He had 45 touches against the Crows in 1993 at P.Park. He was a classic coodabeen.
From what I recall Frankie got done for headbutting an umpire in the Diamond Valley League
Mugavin was ok, A Fitzroy supporter dont pick his worst team. Not me anyway

A Fitzroy supporter, or any other supporter is entitled to his or her opinion, whether you agree or disagree. We paid our money week in week out, to watch some very good Fitzroy players.
We also watched some very ordinary players, that should never have played league football. Yet again that's my opinion, right or wrong!
I don't think I'd ever resort to spitting or hurling abuse at players.
