Remember the old days when you would have hard barsteds like balme/sheedy/jess/flea/mark lee/mc clean.....now we have none..who in the league would possible be scared of us! no one...surely there has to be some hard players out there, every other team seems to get them....

This has been one of our problems over the last 20 years!!!! no one runs straight at the footy...where is our hammil? where are the tough nuts that our opponents fear, i tell you where they are in the last primership team

i just had a strange sense of deja vu then. I was in at home and i was talking footy to a friend ho was older than me. I am 10 years old he was 18. You know what we discussed howtough richmond are....my face was glowing with pride...that is my team...roll the clock back to present day...we are a joke and a rabble!!!!

I used to think that Zantuck was gonna become an enforcer. In his first or second year he used to throw his weight around a bit. It seems he is just turning into a yobbo.

Stafford isn't bad in the Mark Lee 'accidentally on purpose' mould.

Flemming has a role to clean up whoever he can.

After that... hmmm.

I think Richmond have been mentally and physically weak since Tony Free left. He was genuinely tough, though not dirty.

We have to do something about our poor %age, it has been lousy since 1994 and has cost us at least 2 finals appearances.

Tony Free is an absolute w@nka... he was a headcase. He thought he was tough only when he had about 45 cans under his belt.

Freezer was gutless.

I think one of them coaches Essendon, one coaches Collingwood, and one is the Football manager at Collingwood.

We need Coghlan fit and firing - so glad they are not rushing him back

ridiculous comment from an ill informed person, we are talking about on field performances, he was a fearless player and we could use his ilk now, he fair dinkhum should have played 150 more games

That is the biggest load of crap I have heard on this site. When did he play after 45 cans of beer?

If you think he was a ********, fine. I have never met the guy. But being a ******** does not prevent you from being an enforcer, which is the point of this thread.

And Tony Free being gutless on the field? You don't know what you are talking about.

Thats a blo ody big call branding Freezer as gutless. He led by example, put his body on the line, and never shirked a tackle.

I never saw him kick one of those record speed toe-poke kicks in the middle to avoid getting tackled.

It would be nice to have enforcers in this team like a Jonathon Brown or a Mark Johnson.

Tony Free is as over-rated as they come.
He played good.
If thats what we regard as an enforcer then no wonder were
up **** creek.

I never meant that Free was an enforcer. But I do think that he was genuinely tough in the way Voss is tough, and I also think that we have been soft since he left.

I don't think he was over-rated. Not as skillful as Knighta, but as others pointed out, never shirked a contest. I think he was a real leader. Not over-rated in my book.

who the hell do you think you are coming out with such rubbish, Freezer played hard and tough and was an inspiration...you are nothing but a faceless coward that delights in taking pot shots at the high and mighty

I can live with ppl sledging Captain Wayne Custard but I cant live with ppls sledging Freezer. He gave everything to the RFC. Didnt know what the word "receiver" meant.
