St Kilda is kicking ar$e. There has to be salary cap fallout at the end of the season.
Lets hope that some of the fall out lands our way. I would love to have a Ball or Del Santo at the Tigers

Nice to get good players from other clubs but I'd rather we identified and developed good young footballers into stars who are Richmond through and through.
Can't go past Brown and Johnson as terrific for the club but they will always have some allegiance to their original clubs. I'd rather have players who only have disdain for any club other than ours.
I realise with list management and financial restraints this is not possible without a few recycled players but a team bordering on a foreign legion doesn't feel right.
I'd like some movers and shakers at the club to go outside the sanitised drafting process and bring in a couple of mongrels who might be loose cannons but would knock down brick walls to help the Tigers be a success on the field.

time to keep our 1st and 2nd draft picks this year.this years draft apparently is lot deeper than last years.
if anything we should try and get at least another 2nd rounder,
cheers!

i am not against us trading a few of our players for extra draft picks. especially those who are getting older like chaffey.

I'd be also happy to do what St. Kilda has done in trading some players for first or early second round picks, like they did with Hall and Everitt.

Unfortunately we don't have a Hall or Everitt, unless we trade ottens and coughlan who realistically are the main players at our club with trade currency

While ball and dal santo would be good pickups i would prefer to get the other 2 KP players in Koschitske and Maguire.
Kosi is outta contract i think and he cna play forward, back or ruck well and thats what we need.

I'm sure every Saints player will take a small pay cut to keep the group together. They are primed to win 1 or more premierships in the coming years. Why would they want to come to Richmond just yet?

its about time people stopped daydreaming here at Richmond and realised there is far more worrying things that will bring our club to its knees.
hate to tell you heartbroken but the inclusion of 2 players no matter how good isnt going to turn our fortunes around, we need 12 good players to start achieving that.
Dont get too carried away with the saints just yet. Wait until they win the premiership. There's a Victorian winter full of mud they need to get through first. And, there may be another Darren Jarman waiting to step up in any granny.
It takes much more than just talent to be a Brisbane. You need team spirit to do premierships. And its way too early to put the saints, as good as they've been, in this category.
I'm for keeping the draft picks. I'm sick of recycling players like Hudson, and players like Brown dont come up that often.

I reckon this pay cut thing sucks. If my boss came and said take a pay cut i'd say get stuffed. Why sign a contract for $x if they are gonna come back a year later and ask you to take less? Poor list management is to blame, not the player.
St Kilda run the risk of having too many young players coming out of contract and deserving more $. The best thing they could do is trade the worst away rather than stuffing up their salary cap. Essendon trade away for low picks all the time. We on the other hand do a 'Gaspar/Daffy' and end up with no room to move in the cap.
I wouldn't get too carried away with St Kilda winning premierships just yet. We were in pretty much the same position in 1995. Port have kicked ass lately for diddly squat. Not many teams stay 'up' for the whole season.

When was the last time you saw mud at either the dome or the G? Those days are gone. The grounds now are managed much more professionally. Not much rain going around at all for that matter.
Wasnt using it in the context that the weather would affect their performance. More that there's a lot of time before Septmber (ie a whole winter's worth of games).
Even the good teams have a mid-season slump of 3- 4 games. We'll have a better idea how good the saints are if they dont have one.
