What are we gonna do with our rookies next year?
Allan- VFL list- doesnt have the pace to nudge his way into an already packed mid-field
Byrnes-AFL list- Pure class hast to be a spot there for him somewhere
Smith- Gone- not performing, times up
Buckland-Rookie list- I can see a s*%t load of potential so worth another year and then make a decision. can see him playing across the hbf or wing when dasher departs.
any thoughts??????

Agree on all 4.

He's played his 200, and has a nice oppurtunity over in America. Nothing really more achievable left in his career, except perhaps one last go at the finals. Only problem with Ben retiring is that it leaves us one big man up forward short.

lf he doesn't retire, he damn well better be pushed.

Ben would be more of a chance to retire than Ricco.

If you were a big guy , in a club lacking quality big guys, getting well paid and watching the talented young list mature around you and can sniff success being just around the corner would put your hand up to retire. I DONT DINK SO !

Is that true? I thought he had a lot of pace. I do know he is very good at winning the ball.

On the contrary, $500,000 to shop with.

From what ive seen he isnt that quick..well not quick enough to say "wow, hes quick." But to be fair, what do you expect coming off a knee reco?

172 cm
71 kgs
19 years old
We have to give him time to develop. Allan, in my opinion, deserves extra time as he is coming off that horrific knee injury.
I trust Mick Turner, even with his bias (to his beloved Falcons) and he reckons he's a gun....Good enough for me.

The 500,000 is not going to get us a name forward when we going shoping. Most names are probably on it allready and wont move for the same money. The most we could do is chase a promising player like a Kosi at the Saints who might get their $'s squeezed because of their amount af talent at Saintville, the problem is that is if we start throwing that sort of money around to get players from other clubs 2 things will happen
1, It will disrupt the balance inhouse and other players currently playing well for the Cats will put off side and will probably be putting their hands out next time their contract is due. This type of effect has been mentioned several times by Mick Turner about when Peake came to the Cats
2, It will fire up other clubs to start to have a ping at our young players.Remember what the Swans did to us with Bolton,Toohey and Williams. How do you fancy the Pies or the Dons throwing 500,000 at a Tenace or a Kelly or Swans throwing huge money at Scarlett "Hey your dad played for us too". etc
It would all start if the move to get other players with money to the club was not sanctioned buy our current player group

I can gareentee you Essendon does not have huge money, they run a very tight salary cap down at WIndy Hill. :P but we might throw 700,000 thou at Scarlo when Fletch retires :P

Of course.
The main problem which you overlooked (surprised nobody has mentioned it) is that you actually have to give more than cash up to get a player ;)
My comment was half joking anyway.

Now now, we won't be mentioning Caracella, Heffernan and Blumfield, will we?
Like i've said many a time to you, Scarlett is the million dollar fullback of the competition...Gonna take more than pennies to get him in an Essendon jumper.
BTW, Kingsley really is a hack ;)

So tight that it overflows.
