Is it just me or does the wearing of sunglasses appear to affect the ability of close in fielders to take sharp catches like Michael Clarke yeaterday?

there wouldn't be a stat on it but surely its a player by player thing rather than a general thing.

As a cricketer, it affects me.
It feels as though there is something to do with my depth perception.
I field in the gully/point region, and can't really pick up the distance or speed of the ball with sunnies on, but with them off I find it much easier.
Other people prefer them though. I think it's entirely a personal thing.

Personally I always wear sunnies on the field (I field in the slips)...however the type I wear differs.

If it is really sunny, I wear normal polarised sunglasses  because they are a dark tint. It helps reduce glare so I can actually see the ball. :D I don't find it affects my ability to catch at all.

If it is a bit cloudy, or isn't a totally sunny day I wear my yellow lensed (hippy :p) glasses. Enhances the red of the ball and means I can pick it up better than if I wasn't wearing glasses.

It is a matter of personal preference, and I would think Clarke would know what works for him so I suspect it doesn't hinder him, otherwise he would remove them.

Personally I prefer wearing them to not wearing them. They just seem to help my eyes a little better at picking up the ball, even though my eyes aren't in bad shape.

I should add though, that when we play one day games using a white ball, I find it easier to have glasses on, as the ball stays white through the lense, yet the clouds change appearance.
Further to Viper10, I find orange/yellow tinted glasses will help a little on an overcast day also. Tried to bat in them once, with a white ball, couldn't really tell if they helped though, got a corker first up and got knocked over:o

As a cricketer it's never affected me, but the last full season i played i didn't get a ball hit anywhere near me in the air.

You shouldn't wear them as a close in catcher, but if you're an outfielder, the sunnies really help when you're trying to take a skyer while having to look up into the sun to spot the ball in mid air.
