View Full Version : Travis Natt
Son of Chris. Played for NT in the u16s and got in the best players. Now at Port Magpies.
Importantly, he appears eligible for the father-son rule, with his dad playing 208 games (needed 200).
Worth a third-rounder? Anyone seen him play?

This is where we need dreamkillers, he'd know. Where for art thou second moderator?
Darrell Cahill's son is also playing ressies for Port. I heard Rodney Allen, Woodville's first 200 gamer on 5AA a few months back and he has two sons, the eldest is 16, 194cm and I think started playing with Dandenong Stingrays this year.
Doesn't seem too likely for Victorian kids of a Woodville player to want to come to Port.
Good point though, we should be keeping an eye out for sons of Centrals, Westies, North and West Torrens players too.

Shannon Hurn who I think has been starring at CHB in underage teams is the son of William "Bunger" Hurn from Centrals. Sadly Bunger only played 185 games (I think - less than 200 anyway).

I actually don't know too much about him footy wise from up here except that he played for the NT under age sides and appeared to do pretty well in most games playing either up forward or in defence.
He also played a few rep games a couple of weeks ago for the NT Under 18's side in the Challenge Cup where NT, QLD, NSW/ACT and Tas play each other but I didn't see his name in any of the goal scorers or best players.
Only other info I can offer is that his dad (Chris) expected he would play most of the year in the Under 19's while settling in so obviously he's doing better than expected
As for a draft pick up under the father and son rule probably a little early given he only turns 18 this year but could be a possibility for a rookie selection which we could then use for a father/son pick next year if form warrants.

There was an article on him in todays (Saturday) advertiser saying he was just given a (junior) contract by the redbacks and will need to make some tough decisions in the next few years.

Cheers. Will check that out. I see Mark Norsworthy's son has moved up from U19s to ressies for Centrals. He'd have to be eligible for F/S?

Natt made Port's best players in the 4 goal loss to Centrals reserves.
Norsworthy was 3rd best for Centrals and kicked 2 goals.

ok today I have to admit I did the unthinkable and rang 5AA to find out something about Travis Natt and Brodie Cahill. As I hoped Russell came to the party, described Natt as 6'4" to 6'5" (lets say around 194cm) KPP. He's currently playing for the NT in the Nationals, turned 18 this year.
He also said Brodie Cahill was like the old man, hard running midfielder, sounded like he had a bit of time for him too. Thought they were both worth a look.
Also asked about Josh Carr (as did an earlier caller) - out of all of that - KG still seems to think he'll go, the others ummed and ahhed a bit, while Russell thought Port would do everything to keep him. Seemed to talk a bit about the possibility of another couple of years with Port. Just who we'd get for him they seemed even less sure about - KG hints at Schammer, Russell thinks you can't compare Carr and Schammer yet, Cornesy didn't seem to know but didn't think we could get Pavlich.
I saw him play in the nationals for NT on fox footy earlier in the week, looks like a handy sort of player. Played as a tall defender mainly and didn't look to bad running out of defense.
