Interesting article on the Saints in Inside Footy today that revisits that historical comeback from Hawthorn back at Waverley in 99. A bit was said about it on Talking Footy last nite as well. Strange that the article went to ex-saints Daniel Healy and Tony Brown and its also got comments from Andrew Plympton. For those who haven't read it basically it is implying a connection with the attitude of the players losing that day with the problem StKilda are having putting 4 quarters together since then. Did anyone else off here read the article and wot do yaz think?

I think Inside Footy posts too many St.Kilda articles & frankly I don't care about this.

There's little point bringing up skeletons I believe, how does it help us today?

By the way over 50% of the current list weren't St.Kilda players in 1999, so that proves the how relevant any comparison is.

spidey, i haven't read the article but saw stats on talking shyte the other night. it really is amazing how one game can change the fortunes of two clubs so markedly. if i remember correctly after 'that' game hawthorn have won 65% and the saints have only won 18%.

i think that game mentally scarred the team in that subliminally they are always worried that the oppostion will run over them. they stop doing the things that get them in front during the game. every other team also have the belief that no matter how far behind they are at 1/2 time or 3/4 time if they increase the pressure they will beat us.

thankfully as savatage has mentioned 50% of our list didn't play in the teams following that loss. blight has already stated that he knows what the mental weakness of the team is and he is correcting it. the nightmare of that game is now history, it is now time for a few of the new and younger saints to make their own history.

on another matter you have to be happy with the form and leadership spider is showing. he would clearly be in front in our b&f, and at the moment is the best tap ruckman in the league. what has happened to his green dread locks? does he want to stay out of jail? or has he finally matured? what odds on him winning the brownlow? probably worth investing $20.00 as a bit of an interest bet.
