Does anyone know how long the Goulburn City Swans (Canberra District AFL) and Narrabri Eagles (Tamworth AFL) have been going?
Both new this year?

Goulburn City Swans are new this year, playing in the Canberra District Division 3. They've had a bit of success early on, winning 5 out of their first 6 games.
I don't really know anything about them - BigFooty regular Destructive lives down there, so he may be able to help you out.

Narrabri are new this year too - I think it's the first time there's been a footy side in town (of the Aussie Rules variety of any rate).

Goulburn has had a team in the past as i have played against them about 12 years ago in what was the old Monaro League in Canberra, from memory their oval is windswept, cold and a unhappy hunting ground for visiting teams, although not as bad as Coomas ...... for cold that is. :D Not sure where their juniors play, maybe south western Sydney its bloody close enough now.
Narrabri i know diddly about........ but good luck to them.

No they aren't, Richo!
Murwillumbah have returned after a four year recess. They contested the 1999 grand final (and lost to Byron Bay). Prior to that they joined the Summerland AFL in 1985 and were regular finalists - winning the flag in 1991, 1997 and 1998.
And Narrabri aren't new either - although their hiatus is a much longer one. 10 years. They last played in the North West ARFL in 1993 (it's last season) and that was their second season after their 1992 debut (assumed because my work there is incomplete).

For the record, I knew there had been a Murwillumbah club a few years back, but I no idea there'd ever been a club in Narrabri.
Can they genuinely be considered the same club though? Just beacuse they're from the same town...
I doubt that anyone in the current Narrabri squad would have anything to do with clubs from 10 years ago that went under the same name, would they?

Phil, while we're at it, who else played in the North West AFL?

Just for you, Richo - and if you wish to ask me anything else;

The four clubs that made up the NWARFL in it's last year were Coonabarabran, Moree, Narrabri and Gunnedah. Tamworth had a side in 1992. I'm still to confirm what happened in 1991, but it would appear that the NWARFL had a year of recess and there was a local comp in Tamworth.
In 1990, Robb College (Armidale), Inverell and Wee Waa (in the place of Narrabri I assume because they are neighbours) played. Coona were in Central West that year from memory.
