When are they gonna pick this guy. I think it has to be this week. Surely the Henneman experiment as a ruckman is over.

yes the sooner they bring him in the better.

Tho I'm confident Essendon hav invested in him for the future, I heard Robert Shaw mention a few weeks ago that Hunt was in the plans as a key position player for the bombers but that at the moment he was serving his apprenticeship in the VFL. The fact that he then named Bolton as the man to hold down the CHB position in the mean time I dont agree with...would even rather Henneman there....he's big and can punch......does anyone else get annoyed when Sheedy puts him at CHF??...argh no thanks.
Im giving Henno ago this year tho, he was servicable on the w\e....and it would be handy if he can turn into a half decent CHB.

Was clearly the best on Sunday..Sautner was held to 1 dodgy mark, 1 goal and a hitout.

Keep that up and he'll get a run.

We may as well use him before his off loaded at the end of the year.

That's the thing... We have to offload a minimum of three players before the draft...

I wonder what other people will have to say about this, but I for one would hope that the club don't delist someone like Hunt or Richards in favour of the relatively slim hope that Johns will one day play senior football.

Interesting thoughts there BJ.

You have to look at the possibility of Henneman, Hunt, Walsh or Richards come under increased scruitny during the season.

I think if you're going to consider Walsh, then you should add Reynolds to that list. But, as you know, glandular fever has set them both back a fair bit.

Sheedy likes Reynolds, so I don't see him going anywhere. And this is only Walsh's second year, and Sheedy isn't the sort to let a player after such a short amount of time.

Michael Davis anyone?

All these players have just been plagued with injuries and it has really cost them dearly. Walsh has no excuse and he should be the first to be delisted.

btw I strongly believe Reynolds will be a player.

Richards hasn't had a tough run with injury.

Walsh had glandular fever earlier this year.

yeah i think every week essendon should at least carry a young kid, even if it means a older player such as a mercuri or misiti or someone misses a few more games as we have to invest in the futur even give wellman a few spells to develop our key defensixe posts. A lot of key players postions are ageingFour young players should be blooded at least for five weeks over the course of the year. one at a time and hold there position for a period of say three weeks then another kid gets a go. I reckon hunt, winderlich, watson, and richards shoudl be given goes like this, maybe even laycock. Bradley, stanton and dyson are first year players so only probably ned to play the occasional game this year.

Dyson and lovett murray have somewhat already had their goes. And havent really cemented their spots so should spend some more time in vfl than another shot for a minimum of three four weeks when they earn it.

Giving youngsters like one gamehere and there gives them a taste but i say three games and then drop them more a taste more hungry.

Although sheedy has kept our team competetive for the last 20 odd years so he definetly knows what he's doing in terms of keeping a competetive list and probably just needs to do what he has been.

To give him decent match time we'd have to drop Henno, Wellman or Bolts though, you'd think. And i doubt Sheeds wants to do that, as much as i'd like to see us give the boy a go.

Hunt's time comes if Henno fails as a backman, IMO - or if Bolts, Welly or Fletch get injured.
Give Henno three weeks and see how he goes.

That said, there are two reasons Henno's getting a run ahead of Hunt - the first is size, Henno's bigger and stronger.
Second is flexibility. Sheeds loves his utilities, and the fact that Henneman can go forward and occasionally gives a contest in the ruck is a big tick for him.

Hunt can play on a wing/half back flank.

Hunt will come along this year and the player i think Sheeds will start to faze out for him is Wellman, Hunt will pick up the 2nd or third forward and be able to build a string career by doing that. Although with bradley drafted last year he may be the player tto take up the key back role. We have Layco ck and Johns (if he wil ever get out there) to be key forwards so it seems to hunt vs bradley to play down back.

Hunt can also go forward, or at least he can go forward just as much as Henno can.

I've heard that Wellman might be out this week with a shoulder injury ? Be a big test vs Bris if Hunt replaces him.

Rather see Bradley or the C*ck in, to be honest.

After 2002 saw big things ahead for Hunt, however, has not had a game since. Would think he is very close to playing this week after some fine performances in the VFL. Think it's a good ploy by Sheeds not to play Hunt for over a year because it has made him hungry. Therefore, he is unlikely to do silly things, such as kick across goal like in the final against the weagles, nearly costing us the match.
Though, I must say Henno has impressed me this year and shown that he is a decent backman, thus allowing Bolts to run up the ground and Macphee to float around.
But one would think the chances of Hunt getting a game this week, with Sheeds record of throwing young blokes into the deepend, are quite good.

Hey, Maz i have to agree sheedy's record is very good when it comes to young'ns! BUT! key thing here, can we afford to be "carrying" anyone into this game, its our real chance to confirm ourselves as one of the top 4 teams and a side to be reakoned with come september.

It's worth the risk, as Hunt has been in good form, albeit the VFL. I can't see blokes like Licha, Lovett-Murray and maybe even Henneman getting a game, whilst Wellman is injured. If Hunt can't stand up to the pressure of a sell out at the pressure cooker, than he clearly isn't ready. As BonJovi sang, "it's now or never", for Sammy Hunt.
