Half way through the year and its time for the clubs mid-year review. Just now the brains trust of the club will be locking themselves away in a secluded hotel somewhere planning for our future.

They will be reviewing the progress of their plans so far, assessing what went right and what didn't. They will be setting targets and making strategies for all aspects of the club's operations, including finance, promotions and importantly all aspects of football operations. They will have their own skunk works, their think tank and brain wave sessions.

So, what will their long and short-term targets be? What strategies and tactics are they going to employ in order to achieve those targets. How will they break this down into child targets, grandchild targets and so forth. How are they going to get themselves humming, so everybody is aiming for the same goal.

Short-term targets (targets must be realisticly achievable).
1. Play only those players who are likely to have a place in the future. (ie no longer give a senior berth to Garlo, Harro, Crofty and a few others). Put a lot into giving quality time to the younger brigade to the sacrifice of possibly a better side.
2. Aim to win 4 more games for the rest of the season.

Long Term targets
1. Aim for a premiership in 2006.
2. Assess what type of players you need to recruit.

And so on ...

I wonder if they do this?

I will be happy if we still have a club playing out of Melbourne to follow.
