What a weak effort that was today. We have a lot of problems with our side at the moment. I cant believe how loose Carlton was all day today. Especially Whitnall, Camporeale and Bradley.
A few questions need to be answered now:
1) Chad Cornes surely must be close to getting dropped now after another dismal effort
2) Why did Kingsley start on Camporeale? Thank god he got injured as he got belted by Camporeale in the first quarter, got belted by Ratten in the second, and was getting belted by Bradley in the third.
3) Why the hell was Wakelin on the bench for three quarters while Meady let WHitnall run around on his own for that time.
4) Dew is badly out of form, and has played one good game since that Geelong match.
5) We badly need a backup ruckman - however it was unfortunate that Ackland hurt his ankle in the first 5 minutes.
6) Who is better - Lyle or Steinberner?? I cant tell them apart, they are both useless.
7) The main reason we lost this game was Mark Willams pretty inept coaching today.
It often helps if we man up - which is something we never seem to do. Opposition forwards are always 20m away from our defenders, opposition midfields always run riot against us. Its getting very VERY frustrating, when this happens week in week out.
I lost count the amount of times Whitnall was 45-50m away from Mead. Meady decided to do what he wanted while Whitnall was cutting us up in the last half. Our best defender all year was left on the bloody bench for three quarters.
Kingsley - im sick and tired of everyone saying "hes a good player, he was best in the grand final wasnt he?" - WELL WOPPY DOO FOR HIM, he was best in a game that means nothing in the outcome of the season. He has done nothing all year, and ive got no idea why you would put Kingsley - our slackest player manning up wise, on carltons three danger men at parts in the game - Camporeale, Ratten and Bradley. Thank god he did his shoulder, he might want to watch a few videotapes on how to stay within 20m of your player.
Camporeale had 12 possesions and kicked 2 goals while Kingsley was on him, Ratten had 6 touches and kicked 1.1 while kingsley was on him, and Bradley had 4 kicks and a goal in the first 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter - while kingsley was on him.
Just because he won the bloody tuck medal doesnt mean he is a great player, doesnt mean he is out of form, doesnt mean he is untouchable and noone can abuse him. The three players he stood, Campo Rats and Braddles - when kinger was on them, it was their most productive time of the match.
Cornes - well the 3 kicks he had was probably enough to keep him in the side for the next month. Im starting to wonder how bad he really ahs to play before he gets dropped. Poor Lockwood - has one bad game and gets dropped, yet Cornes - who has kicked 1 goal in the last 5 weeks, still gets a game. He has kciekd 6.15 for the year!?!?!?! How crap!!
Thank god for Primus! Another awesome performance by him today. He was so buggered by the time he went off the ground he struggled to make the boundary!
We need to make changes. Get Kingsley out, get Cornes out FOR GOOD,get Steinberner out, put back in Lockwood, Bishop, Guerra or Thurstans, or Murray, and BROGAN, get Deano back in there. Change the side around and get them hungry again. Its really frustrating and annoying seeing teams pound us because we dont bother manning up and half our players were slack.
Onto Williams coaching...why was Nick Stevens in the back pocket for three quarters??? Why was Wakelin - our best defender - on the bench for three quarters while Whitnall and Kouta were carving Meady and and Paxman up. Why was Camporeale tagged from the start?? Why wasnt Dew put up in the forward lines, why was Cornes left on the ground for so long?
It was good to see POulton have a reasonable game back. Guerra can take Kingsleys spot - and do a better job of it, Put Bishop in there somewhere, he is the quickest player in our side, he is 6'4", he can kick goals, he is playing well. Try out Thurstans and get rid of Packo or Meady for a week to keep the m hungry, put Stevens back in the centre where he plays his best, not in a back pocket.
