Against Melbourne and Brisbane last week that we are at least one quality midfielder away from being a good side. At the beginning of the season Sheeds said he'd trade at the end of the season for one bigname, quality midfielder. At the moment the only possible trades I can see are McVeigh to Sydney for O'Keefe (forward), and possibly Hille and Henneman to Melbourne for Travis Johnstone (can't get a game). Also looks like Blumfield is struggling to get a fair go and Richmond and perhaps we may pick him up (not so sure this would be benficial). Thoughts?

i think luke power was the one quality midfielder that we should have tried harder to get. He signed a contract at the end of last year but before that was contemplating a move to victoria last year, his home state. should have offered brisbane a bit for him. He is excelling now so his stock would have gone up a bit from last year and we wouldnt be expensive as if we tried now to get him. Also now he has just signed a contract and now seems pretty happy in brisbane. But he in my mind is the exact speedy midfeilder we need and that sheedy always talks about. Others options were we somehow get brent (last year) to join his brother at essendon, very unlikely though or nathan brown or nick stevens ad we have failed on both.

Dont know who now though, the dreadful day when hirdy retires we will be able to spned his money on a top quality fast midfielder if one of the youngsters on the list hasnt stepped up. Maybe nathan bronw will be out of contrat then but too old better yet a developed elite robert murphy.

Think we have to get giving young quick blocks like dyson, stanton, winderlich a go and hope they develop into a gun midfeilder or at least do whats needed this year.

Rama's illness has deprived us of that gun midfielder we desperately need.

I agree. He missed a lot of footy and still hasn't regained touch. Shows flashes of his class, but is still getting back into the "flow" of things.
