Paul Pierce for Tyson Chandler, Eddie Robinson and pick # 3. Thats a pretty good deal for Chicago especially considering TC has not come on as well as expected and plus you dumb Eddie's contract.
Not sure about dynasty as long as the attitude of some players on that roser is not fixed up quick smart.
I think its now safe to assume that Curry won't be going anywhere. I still think you might need to address PF as Davis is getting on a bit and Jerome is a battler. SG is another problem IMHO as Craw is blowing hoot and cold too often. I am a huge Kirk fan as he is "old school" PG. PP at SF is a gun and if Curry gets the attitude right you have a pretty good starting 5
Though, I must ask the question, WTF is wrong with Boston?????? They let Walker go for peanuts and Now Pierce for not much more:rolleyes:

Because you genrally have good insight into sports that most (me at least) have only a passing interest in.
And your views are balanced (exept on the rare occasion when passion is blinding).
the old saying of "find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life" might apply IMHO

Used to be me before the passion died and I got 'old' and bitter. ;)

I just love footy, basketball and soccer. Nothing freaky about it just having an opinion. I would bet Carmelo knows more than me about NBA basketball :). That makes him a freak :D:p

I used to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of cricket, soccer, NBA and AFL... Kevin Sheedy called me a "computer" when I was lucky enough to meet and chat with him for a good halfhour back when I was 17.
Was well on the way to becoming a journo too - had built up a strong portfolio of published stories (unrelated to sport) and minor editorial experience.
Then I just grew out of it... meh! - At the end of the year I could transfer into the Journo course at UniSA in a snap, but I can't be arsed.

Ohh by the way they are in strong talks (boston/chicago) the deal isnt completely done yet... I hope it goes through though.
And Ainge wants to build a contender... and hes always been a fan of Tyson.
If this goes down it will be announced as soon as the Bulls make their pick friday our time.

Did you ever collect cards? If so, still have them and what's your best one?

Do it while you can (see a motivator if needed).
the stories you hear about being 40 and married with kids hating work and grinding your path are TRUE, dont let opertunitys that wont ever come up again pass by.
Are we talking basketball cards?
Ohhh, I was an avid collector from the 91'92 Hoops series up until the 97'98 Stadium Club.
Boxes and boxes of the stuff, a few folders, I can't believe how much money I spent on them.
Trading was the best part, duping your mate who knew nothing about basketball, but bought cards because you were.
"Hmmm, can't find my Beckett right atm..."
On another theme, can you believe the Sixers are looking to replace Martin Catallini with the old NBA player, Sedale Threatt? He'd be in his mid 40's by now.

I see how it could have been construed that way ;)
I was merely observing how young stifler reminds me a lot of me when I was younger - before lapsing into some digression that can occur late at night/in the early hours.
But who am I to interrupt... if you wish to discuss the legend that is DT, go right ahead. :D

When I first started collecting seriously, I bought a pack of Upper Deck SE - the one with the snazzy All-Star die-cuts. Anyway I ended up pulling one, Isaiah/JR Rider, when he was absolutely huge post Slam Dunk Comp winning days.
It was worth $US25 (value usually doubled for Australian purposes) and I traded it to a mate - I didn't have the latest Beckett that had just come out - for practically nought thinking it was a common insert like the trash sort Fleer used to mass-produce.
'Twas spewin'... especially when we went back to his place to "see how much it was worth, probably nothing" and he opened straight to the page and feigned disbelief when we 'discovered' its true value.
Anyway in the end I collected upwards of 250 Tim Hardaways and still have them - my favourites being his 1993-4 Topps Finest Refractor (you know, the ridiculous ones that cost $25/packet) and 96-97 Stadium Club 1st Day Issue.
Good times... what a waste of money though.

I used to take my basketball card trading very seriously. Once I traded 40 common cards (worth 5 cents each) for 1 Shawn Kemp card worth $ 6... :p
I still got the huge folder in my room... with cutouts from the becket stuck to my folder... like Larry Johnson dressed as a grandma, and Hakeem showing off his muscles.
I dont think I ever had a real good card, one of my Jordans was worth about $100... but thats about it.
I even got USA 94 trading cards :o

No leave it here... it's just an offtopic discussion between Crows fans...
Should the Fryzie thread be moved to the entertainment board? ;)

Have you ever seen Iversons crossover on MJ? It was incredible, he totally schooled the GOAT on that move.

can't see why this should be moved - more a conversation between members of the afc board.

Hehe, that friend sounds like a bastard, a lot like me really...
And ahh yes, the All-Star Die-cuts, they were almost the first hugely expensive/rare inserts (could throw in the early 92'93 Stadium Club Beam team). The next door neighbour pulled the Shaq version in that set but he was a huge fan and I could never trade it off him.
It was a good idea collecting a periphery superstar like Tim Hardaway, I made the mistake of collecting Jordans, but of course the most expensive (and best) cards were impossible for me to get. I have about 80 or so MJ's but the most valuable would only be worth $40-50.
I do have the rare 86'87 Fleer Jordan Rookie Card though, any offers? *cough*fake*cough*
Carmelo Anthony
24 Jun 2004, 23:18
You mean those Jordan rookie cards you used to get from those machines at the bowling ally :D
I couldn't believe Jordan rookie cards were in such great supply, and so cheap too!
My Beckett said at the time it was worth $1875, so I thought I was making $1873....then I read the back of the card :o

Wel - you were right about the Celtics drafting Jefferson. ;)
That being said - now that the Bulls manage to fleece the Sins for Deng at 7, and have Gordon at three (which might be attractive to the Celts), this could still be a good choice.
Pierce needs too much of the ball to succeed, and is too self-centered. Remember how much of a clown he was when the USA team was thumped in the World Championships? That being said - he's an enormous talent.
That's two "that being said"'s in one post, which is a fair effort ...
