Looks like Danny is set to walk according to the Herald Sun - Mark Stevens.

(Too early for thier web page so cant yet provide link but I just read it this morning)

It seems that he has finally admitted to himself that his time is up.

Seems also as if its possible he will part company as opposed to seeing out the season.

I dont think the Tony Shaw method of staying for the rest of the season holds enormous appeal to a coach as it didnt to Ayres.

Why stay around putting teams that revolve around development and experimentation instead of winning when someone else is going to reap the rewards of youth orientated teams.

Why would you want to put yourself through the game at the GABBA aswell. I dont see the benefit of him parting company and passing the helm to Brittain.

BTW - We went after Carey with gusto. How would it look on top of everything else had we got him, lost him this week with Kane Johnson and Daniel Wells still with 7 minimum years of football ahead of them.

Yes and guess who'd likely to take over for the rest of the season???

OH GEEZUZ.....WAYNE BLOODY BRITTAIN.

Watch for fletcher and fleming to not miss a game for the rest of the year. We've been infiltrated by ex carlton diseases.

Anyone got some strong anti depressants???

If frawley leaves early

and If i could get two wishes granted

Tommy Hafey would take us for the rest of 2004

and Sheedy took over in 2005.

But if Hafey got us..we'd lose the chance of a priority pick.

And I mean no disrespect to Danny...it's just the way things go sometimes.

Why did Tony Shaw announce mid-season he wouldnt be continuing the following season? So they could get the best available coach Mick Malthouse.

By the time Richmond got around to speaking to him, he laughed at them.

Why did Adelaide get rid of Ayres now rather end of the season? So they could focus on appointing the best available coach for 2005.

Just like we stuffed up losing coaches like Malthouse by leaving it late, and ended up with our 5th choice Frawley, we are doing the exact same thing this time round.

I hope we learnt our lesson, or at least that Greg Miller would be doing things differently this time round.

Scenario.

Wallace is already signed, sealed and delivered so there is no need to announce to the masses theat spud is dead.
Miller wants to appear to run a steady ship.

Frawley is devistated and has begun to recognise his limits
(of which there are many)
He knows.

LOL so true

I can see it now

Brittan takes over we win 6 out of our last 9, causing major upsets, finish with 10 wins and 9th position. Richmond re-sign Brittian for 3 years (ala the Giesh) we win a our first wooden spoon in over a decade in 2005.

Ground Hog Day all over again

Paul Feltham from the Brisbane Bears, I think was the most successful interim coach ever to have taken over a team.

There have been some who have warranted signing up at the end of the year like Wallace and Roos.

The cheer squad were actually putting pressure on the board to appoint Gieshen with a banner that said

"Unleash the Giesh"

towards the end of the year when the team finally escaped Robert Walls. (Is it just me, or is the only success i can remember him having as a coach with a team that anyone could coach to a premiership given Carlton could and would pick up the best players in the country)

If Wayne Brittian has some success during the year. Please Cheers Sqaud, dont give the board any ideas.

You are the weakest link! Goodbye.

Nice guy but five wasted years (to go with the 18 years before)

We all know it has been five wasted years but given everyone is brilliant in hindsight.

Does anybody remember how they felt when Danny was appointed.???? Did you ask yourselves, given his mentor was Shaw and he played at StKilda , what sense does this really make? or were you just glad to say goodbye to Gieshen and anyone else looked really good?

I couldnt help but think that we had just been forced into going with whatever was left out there after Bomber Thompson gave us the "Not interested".

I hope Sheeds was really serious about coming to Richmond as he says he was at that time - He said he was really close - because thats one of the reasons we sacked Gieshen and left ourselves without a coach so we could pursue him.

Since you ask - no I did not agree with Danny's appointment in '99. This is not Danny's fault but those who appointed him, namely Leon Daphne. There were indications back then this was likely not to turn out.

No I agree with you there. its everyones right to put thier hand up and chase a senior job.

No malice towards him in anyway as he gave it all he had and he looks like a decent guy.

But he doesnt have what Richmond needed and its more a case of did Sheedy string us along with his interest in comming back as we were hanging on that for a while.

Re: Sheedy, yes I think so and it looks like he might try it again at the end of this season. Fool you once, shame on him. Fool you twice, shame on you. :)

Thats exactly what I thought. Add to this that St.Kilda wouldnt even grant him an interview for a coaching role there.

At least if we get GO'D he played premierships and sat in the box learning how to win them 3 times in a row as an assistant

Amazing how after the Saints didn't want to even know about
him when it came to coaching.
Guess its a case of once bitten twice shy for them but what was our excuse - To make the RFC the worst team in the comp ???

The conventional excuse going round these days is that no-one else wanted to coach us. A convenient excuse as far as I'm concerned. When you put all your eggs in the Sheedy basket, and have left it to the last minute to approach other coaches like Malthouse, what else would you expect?

If they havent spoken to Wallace and O'Donnell by now, we can look fwd to another 5th choice moron wasting another 5 years. App they didnt speak to Sheedy even once this time round.

Doesnt matter if the president of this club is Daphne or Casey, they all make the same mistakes.

Looks to me Oxx like we'll be around for a long time complaining about this administration. make sure you've got a doctor that keeps up your valium prescription
