I think Merv and Boonie just choked on their beers!
I reckon he read the thread about the Mark Richardson slow race & thought that he'd better get in training now rather than face humiliation when Australia next play NZ.
Heard him on the radio and he said reports of him giving up drinking are exaggerated. Playing cricket every day in England hasn't left him much time though. Apparently having to bowl a lot has made him get a lot fitter.

I got howled down when i suggested this before the last tour.
Good on Boof, anything that helps him maintain his spot in the team is fine by me.

Who knows he might give up eating next?
Apparently he got sick of people asking him if that greenish skin colour he has in the movie is just makeup.
Seriously smart move from Boof, especially now that he has developed the "Boofra" (which means straighter one I think).
Didn't Lehmann inflame his Achilles last season by trying to do too much (ie, some) fitness work at the start?
Didn't he say he wasn't going down that path again???

Some classic quotes in the article...
"He keeps chucking me the ball, which is an absolute pain in the arse," he said. "But I enjoy bowling, it breaks the day up"
Good to know that trying to dismiss the opposition breaks the day up, but is still a pain in the arse.
"So, it's been really busy and I feel in really good nick, so hopefully I'll keep that [weight] off for a while and keep the beers out of the cupboard for a bit."
Don't you normally keep them in a fridge, not a cupboard Boof... or are you turning into a Pom!
"I know here at the SACA we're trying to develop a culture where we're going to be as fit and strong as we can," he said. "As a leader you've probably got to do that as well."

Onya Boof... probably thinks the whole test cricket thing is just holding him back from taking tour groups to Sri Lanka or the Windies, or from a lucrative career doing sportsmens nights at pubs, footy clubs and cricket clubs across this wide brown land.

He sounds almost totally committed to his leadership role...:D
Batted well this test, class doesn't age.
