I know that i cant stand him - just wondering weather or not anyone on your side of the fence actually like Eddie McGuire???

Of course not!
He only saved our club when we were in depths of hill and turned a $1 million loss into now one of the richest clubs in Australia, brought in Mick Malthouse, sealed a deal with Olympic Park that will give us facilities second to none, and continues to attract a sh*t load of sponsors that keep pouring money into the club.
So, yes, we hate the bastard.

Easy to say that you don't like him, but how about giving us some reasons why you don't.
Is it because he has granted Melbourne a guaranteed $500,000 every year?
Is it because he has granted the Swans a home game in one of the largest stadiums in the land?
Is it because this same game will give 10 great ratings?
Is it because he constantly urges supporters of ALL teams to sign up with their club to save them from extinction?
Is it because he personally organized $1 million dollars of sponsor ship 2 years ago for the financially crippled doggies?
Is it because he champions 16 fixed cameras around the ground to pick up behind the play incidents?
Is it because he granted the Lions a home game opening match with a guaranteed bumper Easter Thursday Live TV audience?
Is it because he is the most vocal of club Presidents when it comes to protecting the interests of the 10 Victorian clubs?
i could go on, but none of the things mentioned above enhance CFC. All of these actions support other clubs and the AFL as a whole.
So, it is easy to dislike him, but how about we find out why you dislike him?

We all love him. Personally I think he's a crap commentator and I'm so-so about the Footy Show, but he's a fantastic President.

Yeh thats fair i spose - he has done alot of good things for the club - but thats no excuse to attempt to host a million shows. I dont know about you but i'm bloody sick of the Edward McGuire show

Some of them are Eddie Mguire the tv host though, not the president. No other president gets his head on TV 20 hours each week.

I think we all would love to have Eddie Macguire as a President.
Has been truly brilliant for the CFC to the point of making me sick......
Television/Marketing is huge......only have to look at European soccer...get used to his face because that's the way its headed.....it just makes me laugh to watch him....., he will eventually resemble a Johnathon Coleman.
mind you i support the tiges..............

I think Eddie is the best football leader in Australia. I also think that he is too often seen on TV. So do you know what I do? I TURN THE TV OFF so I don't have to watch him. Honestly the amount of people who hate him but still hang on his every word on the footy show annoys me. You all have free choice not to watch, but as a prez you couldn't want better!

thats spot on mate
i dont mind him myself, but you're right about the amount of people who complain about him, but still dont seem to stop watching
whoever mentioned the tall-poppy syndrome is right also, and the comment about envy
for cryin out loud give the man a break, he is doing the best out of pretty much everyone else in the comp in relation to promotion of the game, not only for collingwood, but for the Swans, doggies, kangas, demons and all those other clubs that cant get themselves in order

i agree - take millionaire, the footy show & commentating away & larry emdur, sorry, eddie, is a great president.

I'm pretty disspointed. He's way too soft. He should be more ruthless. Time to push for a randon draw and see who can really survive. Time to forget about deals with Melbourne to give them the QB game every year. Time to forget about Sydney. Time to stop proppoing up the TV deal and catering contracts.
Ed needs to push for a randpm draw and see how many of the complainers are around to for us to say I told you so to.

No, Ed does not decide the draw.
But he has the power to tell the AFL that every game against the Dreamons each year is considered a Dreamons home game. Result?
$500,000 bonus to a club thats supporters have shown do not deserve it.
This decision by Ed you should hope never goes to a member vote as it would mean a net $250,000 p.a. loss to your club.
