How many opposition contracts are we still paying out?
A Kangaroo supporter reckons that David Bourke was on thier list for 2 years at a cost of only $40K per season, but Richmond had to fork out an extra $160K per season. i knew of this but didnt know it was that much.
he adds : Amazing he earned that much!
Are we also paying Ben Holland for playing for Melbourne??
Were we paying Nick Daffy for playing in the legends game??
Just wondering how many of these contracts that are based on players position in our pecking order and not on thier talents are still hurting us.

I thought he might be but what worries me is the future ones we will need to pay out if we have the clean out of the playing list that people say we will have.
When someone like a Chaffey is offered up as a possible trade, is he on some inflated salary (apologies to him if he isnt, just a hypothetical ) that would make other teams laugh and take us on the Bourke proviso?

other clubs have done the same.wowodan,s contract is still partly paid by melb.staff,s 1st 2 yrs at tigerland was in part payed by the swans.
as funny as it seems you can actually save money.
EG:gasper is on 500g.we trade him off to w/c for a draft pick.in that agreement we pay 300g until the current contract runs out.a 1st year draft pick is on[on guessing here]60g.we save 140g on our salary cap.
cheers!

You got to also realise that it works both ways.
Sydney were paying some of Staff's simultaneously, and Essendon are still paying for Blumfield.
What goes around comes around.

For some clubs it goes around more than it comes around
That would apply to clubs that have thier players leveraging themselves against other offers
The club is unable to really offer finals as a seducement to stay for a smaller amount hence having to match it
Down the track they realise the player is not actually worth what that amount.
I dont begrudge players money. Just a frustrated supporter trying to put a finger on reasons that we cannot compile a decent list.
