View Full Version : Target -----> WALLACE
He has to be the number 1 man in the RFC sights. The club wants an experienced coach and they have to get the best.
Sheeds will stay at Essendon, Ayres to Hawthorn, Eade To Adelaide and Hopefully Wallace to Tigerland.
Lets see what direction the club takes this time. . .
Wallace would be good...
Better than Sheedy.
Get a long term coach - Sheedy is too old for that, can't see him coaching for 10 years...

Agree. Clearly the no.1 priority. The question is whether he will want to come to Punt Road to coach a bunch of baboons

I'm up for him! Please don't stuff this selection up Richmond.

I prefer odonnell surrounded by some experience. Dunno who but he would be great. Young, enthusiastic, clever, taught by the best, 5 year contract no problem.

She would do a better job than the baboon we had coaching us .Maybe we could get Tommy Hanlon junior in ???? Or Cirque de Soliel? Those guys who trained the Russian Dancing Bears .................

Yep, he can't be overlooked. It's just the whole 'un-tested' thing that some people are arguing over. Looking at it one way, every great coach has to start somewhere.

Ill bet thats what some people said about Frawley five years ago when they appointed him.

What exactly is it about O'Donnell's modus operandi that you find so enticing ?
I'm genuinely interested.

Nope :) The reaction to the Frawley appointment was a collective groan. No one wanted the job and we ended up with about the 8th best option.

Eade won't be at Adelaide.
They offered him the job back at the end of 1999, and he treated their offer with contempt, saying that he wanted to coach a team, not a state.
While he's changed his tune, the club officials at Adelaide are still there and have good memories.
Eade won't get the job.
Wallace is interesting as IMO he's the best prospect around. Adelaide will definitely talk to him as will Richmond.
Whoever gets him will get a very very good coach.

No way - he is a hack. Rather Eade or Ayres than Wallacw. In fact rather O'Donnell or Harvey than any of these

Please not Eade!!!!!!
He is seen as the favourite at the moment and Miller has connections with him.
Apparently Wallace left Richmond on bad terms when he played there briefly in the eighties. I know different people are there but wonder whether that will have an impact on his decision.
Wallace or Harvey but not Eade. One year honeymoon with the Swans and then plenty of fruitless finals appearances where they werent competetive in those games. He had the players also. Big Tony in the goal square and Paul Kelly for example.
Doesnt matter if its Wallace or Eade or even Ayres for that matter. We're 3-5 years from playing finals and we're going to spend the next 2 years watching a lot of rebuilding taking place. All of them are well qualified to do this.
I'll happily sit there and watch whoever takes over do the very much needed rebuilding Frawley didnt do for 3 years, recruit and develop young players, rather than pick up used up hacks like Hudson, King and Sziller from other teams.
And someone that will bring in quality assistants rather than mates like Stewie Lowe to teach ruck skills.
And good bye to the man that holds the whiteboard

I read an interview with Wallace a few years back which touched on his time here. He didn't hold any grudges against Richmond and admitted that it was part his own fault he didn't work out here as a player.
I think he was ****ed off at getting the flick from Hawthorn and didn't have the right attitude coming here. Getting the flick from us gave him the kick in the pants he needed and he went on to become a decent player for the Bulldogs.
