with the popular theory that only the likes of eade, wallace and ayres are in the running as our next coach due to casey,s comments i just wonder if its possible the following senerio may occur.
COACH-MARK HARVEY granted he hasnt coached at the top level however he has been a deputy to one of the best coaches in vfl/afl history.
Positives:
*would know how to manage a list
*would identify our shortcommings
*would know what is required at a players level to succeed.
*has a bit of mongrel about him.

Negatives:
*hasnt coached at the top level.
*comes across as a clown[public preception obvously].

ASSISTANT{S}-
GARY O'DONNELL/B]:the appeal of working with his old mate in harvey would be tempting.comes with the same credentials as harvey.o'donnell has mentioned that he would equaly aspire to get into the management side of the game.while his priority would be as an assistant to harvey he would/could also be groomed as the next greg miller of the club.

[B]ROBERT SHAW:while harvey finds his feet someone like robert shaw would be the perfect "support role"to both harvey and o'donnell.

the most important thing about these 3 is they all have been involved both on and off the feild with success.something that is sadly lacking at tigerland ATM.

your thoughts?

cheers!

Robert Shaw

does have good credentials when it comes to football, but I remember his stint at Adelaide where those coaches before him and after him seemed to be successful whereas he wasnt.

I couldn't see him moving from the comfort zone for another assistants job.
Apparently Sheeds is very persuasive in keeping people and he looks a bit too comfortable. He would need to be offered and want the top gig.

Its so hard to gauge assistants from the outside. We hear them give interviews and judge them on thier percieved intelligence or we judge them by the success of the team they are at or perhaps comments that filter through from players but no one really knows thier worth. I hear contradictory things about Terry Daniher as an assistant. all his clubs have had success.

While we talk up Harvey and O'Donnell, its mainly through the success thier team has had and yet we bag Crocker.

I would be happy with Harvey

then the coach of the RFC would have the same last name as myself and I could change my nick to Coach Harvey !!

:D

Harvey, O'Donnell, Shaw....

Why don't we color our yellow sash red and call ourselves the Bombers?

Wallace or Eade for me. No more inexperienced coaches thanks...

While this discussion is only academic, I would much prefer to take O'Donnell ahead of Harvey. Far more impressive CV having worked in 2 successful environments.

Harvey's lack of perspective away from Essendon would be a worry.

I say this discussion is still academic because we will not go past one of Wallace / Eade / Ayres (and in that order).

People Please remember there is more then 1 assistant from Brisbane we could get. How about Craig Lambert he is a tiger and thats the sort of hard nut we need at this club. Just something to think about.

I dunno about that .... I reckon you'd be back to "Coach Required" pretty soon.
