Why and the hell did Thornton line up against Sav in the 1st place. His 2nd game back this season against a guy who has 10 years experience and has hit some form.
I am still agog at this decision, and I am in now way am I blaming Thornton as the kid is def a good footballer but the coaching staff have alot to answer for this stupid match up. If we had stopped SAV in the 1st half it would have been game over by half time, but no a stupid move prior to bounce down was made and it looks like now we will not be in the hunt for the eight
The 10 to 15 year plan will probably be invoked now.
At least you can post something about this move on this board anyway. Another popular Dockerland site is removing them all immediatly. Reminds me a little of the AFL and commenting on umpires fiasco that is going on now

Although clearly beaten in strength contests Thornton killed Rocca when the ball hit the ground or when there was a race for the ball. It was a bit of a gamble, didn't come off with 6 goals to Sav. Left good defenders to keep other fowards quiet. We needed more from the midfield especially in the last quarter

Reading post here and on Dockerland, you could be forgiven for thinking Saverio kicked 97 goals for the night. It wasnt that bad a peformance. Polak didnt stop him either.

Sav kept them in the game in the first half. We should have been 10 goals up at half time, but they had a avenue to goal and we had the mis match of the year
I thought Scotty went all right. Sav kicked 5 on him but we were still in front when Scotty got shifted.
You would conceed him 6 if we won.
Of more concern was our delivery (or non delivery) to the forwards when we had the run of play in the first 3 Qtrs due to some superb clearances from the Midfield.
The thing that concerned me is that on numerous times when within range instaed of having a shot we tried to spot up someone with a short pass usually with disasterous results.
Forget the last qtr we should have been up by 8 goals at qtr time with the amount of play we dominated.
Don't forget that Lloyd had 5 to 1/2 time against the bombres after both Macpharlap and Sir Robert had a go at stopping him.
And Goldspink didn't help, how a self confessed Norf supporter is allowed to umpire Norf games is beyond me.

its a shame Wayne Carey retired, I hear Connelly had the great plan of matching Thornton up with him this weekend.
:D
Terrible decision by connolly, whom i dont rate as a coach.
Thornton should have been on Motlop, Haddrill on Sav, McPharlin on Petrie and Parker on whoever is left due to his versitility.
I was at the game, but didnt notice Sandy on the ground for very long. Maby only half a game, Simmo didnt ruck which left most of the ruckwork to J. Lo. Simmo and J. Lo should swap.
Could Sandy play FF instead of sitting on the bench. I think he needs to stay on the ground for longer stints to let him work into the game more. He isnt a burst player.
Has Simmo been ruck, he would have been able to get to the contest in the goalsquare which Wells goaled from. As it stood, Sav went up unmatched, blocked Woodsy, Wells goals. Dunno if you blame the coach for that or not, but there was no plan there.
anyway well played. Pav should be CHF, JLO FF, Simmo and Sandy ruck. Polak isnt a natural forward at this level.

We don 't have any gorillas to play on Bazza, Sav or Lynch; though neither do other teams.
Hell even Scarlett is pretty gangly.
My take on this is from left field (a popular fremantle angle). We should develop our own monster forward.
Enter Troy Simmonds. He looks like he doesn't have an ounce of fat on him and is aerobically fit enough to play in the ruck but could forgo these attributes in his persuit of turning himself into an incredible hulk.
Backmen have the unfortunate problem in that they have to be fast enough, strong enough, fit enough and agile enough to keep up with the forward/gazelle. Forwards on the other hand only have to beat their opponent in one of these categories. I reckon we lack a heavy pack crashing (and agilty/fitness forgoing) ram and this is where troy could reinvent himself.

Fair enough, he just didn't have a clue (both ways). Seen better umpiring in under 11's, maybe they umpire in the spirit of the game.

It was said by someone when they were doing Goldspinks 300th game buildup. Could have been ED.

Essendon fan. Wears 32 because Tim Watson did.
H Kennedy is a well known North fan, and as a result, crucifies us because he doesn't want to be seen as being effected by his allegiance.
Eddie was wrong.
