MCPHEE SIGNS TWO-YEAR DEAL
Wednesday, 14 July 2004
"Young gun Adam McPhee re-signed with the Bombers earlier today. McPhee signed a new two-year contract that will see him call Windy Hill home until the end of 2006. Essendon chief executive Peter Jackson said the club was thrilled to re-sign Adam and secure his services before his contract expired at the end of the season."
Very good to have this bloke signed up before the end of the year when the Vultures come out.

Cupido. There's probably more as well.
Misiti will probably retire.
Allan, Murph, and McVeigh will wait until the end of the season, you'd think.

Give all of them two year deals - after what they've done in the last 15 weeks, they deserve it. Murphy and Allan were considered so risky when we signed them up at the start of the year, and with both only 28 they at least have another two years in them.
Cupido won't be going anywhere, he just needs a full pre-season which he'll get over the coming summer.

Isn't Allan 29 at the moment? He and Murphy should only get one year - two years isn't worth it. At the end of next year we can decide if they are just taking up the spot of a youngster or if they can play a role for another year.
McVeigh, yes, two years would be fine.

Excellent news. Now all we need to do is get his name on the captain's mug and I'll be a happy camper!

Big contrast between him and Hirdy, too, while Hirdy's obviously way better a player, he can't string 3 games together, while Smokey has played every game ever since he arrived at the club last year.

It's interesting you say that CD as I was just recently wondering what JH was like at the same stage in his career. I honestly can't remember as he has been "the Champ" for so long! McPhee could well turn out to be a matchwinner for us if his development flows on.
great news, McPhee will be vital to the Bombers winning a flag over the next 5 years.

Hirdy was appointed at around 98-99, wasn't he? That's around the time when he got those horrible stress fractures on the foot. He was always our captain but just wasn't on the field much. Mcphee though, he probably doesn't have the matchwinning ability of James, but he seems to be able to get himself on the ground all the time, so would give us some stability

he's coming along well, developing into a gun utility player: the fact he'll be playing CHF this week after starting in defence and also playing midfield and wing shows how versatile he is.
hahahahaha stupid damian drum got rid of him. and Gerad Neesham didnt want McLeod when he went to him an 94/95- Fremantle Dockers make some good decisions.
