View Full Version : I"m Alan Partridge.
Coming up next Saturday night on UKTV is I"m alan partridge.
I recommend watching it for those who didn't when it was on Arena.
The first show of "knowing me, knowing you with alan partridge" was great but this follow up is brilliant. Follows him after his talkshow is cancelled.
Watch it and laugh.

I am a huge Alan Partridge fan and Steve Coogan fan in general. How many people are actually into this show in Australia? I didn't think there would be any.
The first series of 'I'm Alan Partridge' is probably my favourite of all his series, doesn't miss a beat. Any fans of Coogan's other characters like Paul Calf and Tony Ferrino?
Got the series on DVD.
Have you seen Coogans Run? I think it's on UKTV tonight. I've yet to order that one as well.
I finally got to see 24 hour party people the other night. Top movie.
Most of the stuff he's done can be found here: http://www.coogans-run.co.uk/

Yeah I've got Coogan's Run, its a bit more hit and miss than Partridge and is a bit more off the wall. 6 individual stories about 6 characters (no Partridge but Gareth Cheeseman has a bit of Alan about him), a couple of the episodes are great, the Paul Calf one probably the best.
If you can, pick up 'The Day Today' which was the TV debut of Alan Partridge and the radio episodes of Knowing Me, Knowing You are just as good as the TV series, great stuff.
Also, look out for Coogan starring alongside Jackie Chan in an upcoming remake of 'Around the World in 80 Days'.

Oh I loved "Knowing me and Knowing You" especially the Christmas episode where he was in trouble for cash for comments for promoting the "Rover" and ended up trying to call it the "Ford (totally blanked on the car company) Labrador"
Steve Coogan's brilliant and he was excellent in 24 Hour Party People

Where from? Every site I've been to either doesn't have it or doesn't ship to Australia :(
I've been a fan since Seven first showed Knowing Me, Knowing You late on Thursday nights following Martial Law and some Julian Clary show...ahh, those were the days :D

I haven't seen any of Steve Coogan's other work, but the Alan Partridge stuff is just brilliant.

A mate brought around an Alan Partridge DVD and it was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. This is sensational news.

If you like the Alan Partridge series, you should check out the movie, 24 hour party people. Steve Coogan's portrayal of Tony Wilson is very partridge-esque (but without the embaressment), which is not that surprising considering that Alan Partridge is partly based on the real life Tony Wilson.
Actually 24 hour party people is very good film (unlike some of Coogan's other films) and well worth watching regardless of whether you like Alan Partridge or not.

Steve Coogan is absolutely hilarious. I bought Knowing Me, Knowing You and both series of I'm Alan Partridge from Amazon a few months ago. If I had to pick a favourite I'd probably say series 2 of I'm Alan Partridge, but they're all brilliant.

Back of the net!
was even better than I expected. As it was first time on UKTV I presumed it would be the 1st series of I"m Alan Partridge but to my joy it was the 2nd which I had personally not seen. Hilarious, still great. Good to see he still has his fascination with the airbag.
I was looking forward to the 1st ep of the old series where he is says he'll talk away the "****, **** partridge" on his car, which was changed to cook, pass, babtridge. Then walking into the restaurant with Tony hayers he comes in saying " and then it said **** and ****..." brilliant.
Don't give any of it away but I sense that this second series shows he hasn't lost it.

Of course he hasn't lost it, he's bounced back! ;)
I probably like the 1st series more but the 2nd has some hilarious stuff too.
Numerous laugh out loud moments - Enjoy!
Brilliant, after seeing the first series years ago I found myself saying "Jurassic Park" if something good happened. Well after last weeks episode it's now "Spiceworld".

I caught a few episodes of KMKY when Seven give him a brief late night run after their Friday movie several years ago, and have been gravely disappointed that no-one (I'm looking at you, ABC) has given him any more airtime since then...

Ok people.
Favourite Alan moments and episodes.
Now I love The Day Today and KMKY but my favourite piece of Partridge is series 1, episode 1 of 'I'm Alan Partridge' - "A Room With an Alan".
Alan's lunch with Tony Hayers ("SMELL MY CHEESE YOU MOTHER!!"), Cook-Pass-Babtridge, "Classic Queen!" (which I now say whenever Queen comes on the radio, sad I know!), the tour of the house ("yes! it's an extender! FANTASTIC! that is the icing on the cake."), Lynn and Alan business lunch role play "Rolled on the thighs of virgins!". Great Stuff.
My favourite moment in the episode is his imaginary conversation with singer Chris Rea (who apparently lived near the house Alan planned to buy), just as it was sinking in that he was not getting a second series and couldn't buy his '5 bedroom bastard house'.
"All right Chris! - 'Hello Alan, I didn't know you'd moved in!' - Yeah, just moved in last week, I'm having a barbecue, fancy coming over? - 'I'd love to! mind if I bring my guitar?' - I'd rather you didn't, it's not that kind of area, do you like mini kievs? - 'I love them!, but my wife vegetarian' - Doesn't matter, she can have fish - 'No, she won't eat that either' - OH FORGET IT!, You people. Come on Lynn, these people are starting to annoy me."
ABSOLUTE CLASSIC. :D Gets me every single time.
As you can tell, I bought the Partridge script book - all the scripts from all the series (radio shows too) plus some very funny letters, program ideas and notes Alan has written, a very strange insight into his mind - a bit like the very funny and disturbing 'Mr Bean's Diary' from about 10 years ago. They should do an entire Alan diary, it'd be bizarre, probably revealing too much about his thing with lady boys! I can recommend the book 'Alan Partridge - Every Ruddy Word.' and pick up the DVD's - seriously, text book stuff.
One more thing, as footy fans you'd love Alan's World Cup 1994 countdown, if you haven't seen it already. It's soccer yes, but Alan's commentary is classic stuff that crosses codes "EAT MY GOAL!" - I've got it on my computer but can't find a link to it online, so if anyone has about 6mb of web space to upload it to, PM me, I'll email it and you guys can have a look - only about a minute long but a guaranteed laugh. :)
Yes, I'm a big fan. ;)

My favourite episode is the one in season 2 where he puts the spike through his foot and then has to host the fireplace sales seminar, I lose it every time I watch that bit. "And a copy of the Daily Mail...oooooohhhhhh it's a good paper". That episode also has his conversation with Michael about helicopters, it's brilliant.
I love all the stuff he says to Lyn in series 2 about her dead mother. "A quick visit to your mother's grave, and then Dr No. The underground lair of an evil genius.... and then, Dr No!".
Ha ha, I've seen The Day Today, that World Cup countdown is great. My favourite bit is when a guy follows up and kicks the ball into the back of the net again after the goal's already been scored and he says "And another!"
I used to watch it in England a few years back. I was rapt when Knowing Me, Knowing You came one, but am still waiting to see I'm Alan Partridge again. Funniest show I've ever seen! The man is hilarious. How much do the DVDs go for on Amazon?

Smell my cheese you mother!
How about when he wears the Valvoline jacket to the funeral? Sensational.
I downloaded all the episodes of the 2nd series off the net. Slow but worthwhile.

Steve Coogan is doing a live tour of the UK again for the first time in many years, Partridge is back but this time he is a 'life coach' with pearls of wisdom like 'Yesterday, Today was Tomorrow, but Tomorrow, Today will be Yesterday.'
Text book stuff! :thumbsu:
He's also cracking out Paul and Pauline aswell as Tommy Saxondale in his first stage appearance.
