It's unusual for me to be pessimistic but in reality we targeted this Test as a must win game-the hope was that we'd have all our players fit, maybe Lee/Gillespie would be injured & the Aussies might be a bit under done in the longer game but it's all gone horribly wrong.
The Aussies are flying with everyone looking in good form & we've got some big injury problems-our no1 bat Thorpe is out, his replacement Ramprakash is out, Vaughn is probably out & Giles is in bed with tonsilitis & a damaged achiles.Added to that Hussain has had hardly any cricket since breaking his finger & White is still struggling to bowl at top pace due to his back injury.
The top 7 is going to be a walking collapse with no-one looking like making a big score after the openers.Still you never know miracles do happen-if you can remember Headingly 1981.
Our best bet would be a bit of rain but there's a heatwave going on here at the moment.

Hey Dip mate, you are showing the exact same form as you did heading into the last ashes series you won. Long way to go mate. Drop us an email and I'll catch up with ya for a beer soon.

The poms are not as bad as everyone seems to be making out. They have shown a bit of heart lately in test cricket I reckon.

Couldn't bat their way out of a paper bag at the moment, the English.

Clearly they are already completely intimidated by McGrath and Gillespie.

I mean - have you ever seen such a woeful lack of technique at the crease ? Bats half raised in the air, feet pointing towards the covers, heads jerking upwards when they should kept steady over the bat, bats a million miles away from their bodies, feetwork virtually non-existant, Suicidal singles just to get away from the stike, hooking and pulling at every available opportunity - truly, Englands batting is diabolical at the moment.

They are already a completely demmoralised rabble and Waqar Younis is abo****ely right - they are gonna get slaughtered.

Big question is - will England get a total over 300 in the entire series ?

Maybe if Robert Croft changes sides half way through the series. :D
