OK, what do you guys reckon for the series starting tonight?
What are your predictions on the result, leading run and wicket takers for each side, player of the series and talking point.

Here are mine:
Result: Australia 3 - Poms 1
Leading Runscorer: Australia: Ponting
England: Trescothick
Leading Wicket Taker: Australia: Gillespie
England: Gough
Player of the series: Gillespie

Talking Point: Channel 7 missing Jason Gillespie taking 6 wickets in the 1st session on the 1st morning of one of the test matches because the are showing a replay of Inspector Frost.

Australia 4, Poms 0.

LRS: Slater
Poms: Stewart

LWT: McGrath
Poms: Cad****
Talking point: Lee and Gillespie both break legs when Fleming pushes Gillespie down hotel stairs landing on Lee and putting both out of the series.

If you think Gillespie for LWT (and I don't think it's a bad call) you should get on him as there are good odds available.

There be 1 runfest and 1 washout so Australia will win 3-0.

Leading Wicket Takers:

Aust - Gillespie
Poms - White

Leading Run Scorers:

Aust - Ponting
Poms - Atherton

Player of the Series:

Ponting

Talking Point: Alec Stewart is seen handing Mark Waugh a small yellow envelope behind the grandstand at the Kiskstall Lane end at Headingly, after Australia have secured the Ashes by winning the fourth and deciding test.

Result: Australia 3 - Poms 1
Leading Runscorer: Australia: Steve Waugh
England: Nasser Hussain
Leading Wicket Taker: Australia: Oh Ah Glenn McGrath
England: Gough with Cork coming 2nd.
Player of the series: Steve Waugh

Talking Point:
i) Shane Warne - will be be able to keep out of trouble
ii) Channel 7's coverage of the cricket. Will the new angles and statistics annoy us?
iii) If Ponting or Gilchrist fail early on in the tests the pressure is put back on them.
iv) Can Langer get his test spot back or has he lost it for good?

Result: Australia by how far (4-0)

LWT:
A= Gillespie/Warne tie
E= Dodgy sub continent umpires

LRS:
A= Ponting
E= Xavier Tras(otherwise known as extras)

Player of series:Ponting

Talking point:
1) Wimbledon outrates the cricket both in England and Australia (sad but true).
2) After winning Wimbledon Tim Henman(and lets hope he doesn't )is appointed England captain for the remainder of the series before he takes up residence at 10 Downing St.
3) Nasser Hussein finally realises he is a dead ringer for Butthead and turns to life of beer, women and heavy metal.
4) Phil"the cat" Tufnell finally convinces the English hierachy that even though you smoke pot, shag women, snort and drop all kinds of illegal substances if you can spin the ball prodigously away from the right hander you should be in the test side.
5) Unimpressed with the trophy for ICC world champions (have you seen it - what a shocker) Steve Waugh takes the piss and uses it to belt 200+ in the last test. Coming in with the score at 5/13 Waugh plunders those English piechuckers all over the groung with it prompting Warney to dance and incite the English crowd with it after the presentation.

I dont know why but I am feeling real hatred towards England at the moment. I hope Gillespie and Lee really doe some physical damage to those weak bastards.

Well looking back at our predictions...I don't think we should give up our day jobs!

No one predicted the correct series result, but at least everyone tipped Australia to win!

No one tipped Mark Waugh or Martyn as leading run scorer - and Fat Red's tip of Michael Slater...HAHA :p

McGrath as leading wicket taker was tipped by a few and a couple nominated Hussain, but no one nominated Ramprakash to have a good series.

Certainly was a dead rubber for Slats in the 5th test...pretty hard to make runs from the dressing room ;)
