Well....very dissapointing result. Just about puts the nail in our finals coffin altho we are still a chacne if we can win 1 game more than West and South for hte rest of the year.

Very similar to last week. Port started very well, Norwood kicked back in the second quarter, Port had 80% of the play in the third quarter but wasted many many oppurtunities, Norwood kicked away in the last.

The ball just travelled out of our forward line all night. Our crumbers were nowhere to be seen. Our tall forwards were very poor, altho AhChee took some good marks (he missed some easy goals).

Our defence was ok But we couldnt handle Hazell and Heath Grundy very well.

Umpiring was extremely poor considering the conditions. Dunno who this Darc Wright fella is...must have been his first game umpiring because he didnt seem to have any idea of consistency at all and was so hot on the 25 metres it was ridiculous.

Port couldnt find an answer to Norwoods midfield guns in Borlace, James and Dawes across half back.

A season of dissapointment continues for the Magpies

From across the border I'm very confused - have Port been finals pretenders all along with the odd fluke win over the likes of the Eagles or are Norwood better than their miserable position on the ladder suggests?

We are good enough to beat the top teams in the competition but we are nowhere near consistent enough to deserve to play finals.

Port are up and down.. and Norwood seem to lift themselves for the games against Port. Neither side are really that good. Port have beaten the Eagles and pushed Centrals a couple of times, yet North have beaten Port 3 out of 3.. this comp is pretty tight at the moment!

I'm a Norwood supporter so I'm a little biased, but I think Norwood's list is a lot better than their lowly position on the ladder would suggest. They have certainly played a lot better in the past 5-6 weeks. Hopefully they will prove me right in 2005.

As for Port Adelaide being finals pretenders, I think there are 4 good teams .... Eagles, Central, North, Sturt. The rest aren't up to their standard, so whoever finishes 5th will be a finals pretender.

I was delighted to see the SAFL revert to a final 4 in 2003, why they went back to a top 5 this season I have no idea.

Maybe (Norwood's) Macca should have announced his retirement at the start of the year ... ;)

As for Port, travelling very rough. They've gone backwards for a few years now and don't have a team in the finals in any of the 4 grades. Very ordinary.

It shows how farcical a final 5 is in a 9 team comp. What are North ... 4 wins ahead of the 5th placed team?

Last Friday night proved very disappointing for the Magpies. To be out-toughed, out-skilled, out-applied and out-disciplined from BOTTOM placed Norwood, was nothing short of disgraceful. In fact, from the pathetic,
insipid, diabolical, (find me a thesaurus and I'll keep going!) performance(!?) such as that witnessed by the Port Adelaide faithful, it appeared the entire team was looking for an "out".

Yours in Black and White

I would not say that all your grades are that bad, your under 17's only lost by a point, and they certainly showed a lot of fight.........pity it was all AFTER the final siren when your runner started an all in.

3 port magpies sacked on the spot with more to follow.

Ports League finals birth hinges this week with west & norwood, If west can win, then port will have to beat either centrals or the eagles. A port win over west is assumed

It just gets better and better, hey ....

Assume nothing. And they'll still just be making up the numbers if they did fall in.

Yeah they will only make the numbers, Sturt will beat them in the Elimination ;)
