Essendon lead by 1 point late in the game.....
West takes the ball looks up and goes forward to the top of the square........pack flies......Mark to Johnson........
Brad Johnson has marked 15 meters out........The Bulldogs trail by 1 point.....
There's the siren.........
What a finish.....
Johnson lines up from 25 meters.........
Brad Johnson to win the game comes in from 25 out......he kicks he's???
from a dockers supporters point of view, he kicks a goal. But you would hope he kicks it out on the full. Surely its better for the club.
I'm sorry for all those concerned about draft picks but I would have to go for the goal. Not all champions are selected at #1. Remember a certain C Grant? :D

Even though I would like 3 and 6 if it came down to that scenario, goal to Johnno would be sweet.

I would love to see Johnno go back and slot the goal with a torp like Crofty did from the square.
And Johnno GOALS!! Doggies win by 5 points and we get to end the season on a high listening to the club song ring through the stadium. Ready & raring to go for 2005 with everyone more than happy to either renew or take out a new membership. I hate this notion of playing for draft picks. I watch my team each week hoping they will WIN WIN WIN.
Bring on a 19th player.
Have our score wiped.
Johnno kicks the goal.
We know we won and we keep the draft pick.

A goal or he could kick it into the man on the mark with such force that it knocks his head off. Either way and I'd at least be smiling.
I despise Essendon so regardless of draft picks etc I want to see us absolutley belt them.

But you have to remember the final siren has already blown, our score couldn't be wiped.

Easy he kicks a point we end up with a draw and we still get our priority pick with less than 6 wins

The condition is 5 or less, not 6 or less. A draw would put you over.

It is actually 5 1/2 wins.
6 wins you are out!

It is less than 6 refer quote from afl web site so I still says he kicks a point
Richmond might be in line to qualify for a priority draft selection this season but Tigers' coach Danny Frawley believes the current AFL system for allocating such selections is unfair.
Under present rules any team that wins less than six matches in a season is entitled to an extra draft selection, before the official first round in the national draft - giving that club an extra chance to grab one of the superstars of tomorrow.
With just six rounds remaining Richmond and the Western Bulldogs have managed just four victories while wooden spoon favourites Hawthorn have just two, meaning there is a strong chance all three teams will be eligible for the priority draft pick at the end of the season.
That would mean those clubs would have the first six draft selections between them, resulting in the 13th placed club not getting a draft selection until pick seven.

6 wins you are out!No, its not. This was clarified publicly in 2000 when Port were sitting on 5.5 wins. Its 5 or under, thus `20 point rule'.
Edit: afl.com.au article writers are not exactly stringent fact checkers.

Under 5.5 wins to get priority pick. A draw would have us missing out.
I'd take the goal btw.

I'd prefer not to win this week, but if it got that close to us winning then you would have to take it. The chance to beat essendon after the siren and knock them out of the finals is too good to pass up.
Id rather it Cooney out of the middle and Minson sitting on Fletchers had and takin the mark in the goalsquare.

It actually says five wins or fewer and draw is not a win
You can go figure it out yourself read quote below may be you need glasses a calculator or the $1 to buy the herald sun or all 3. Apologies accepted
August 2004 Herald Sun
Michael Horan
INCOMING Western Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade might secretly wish his new team is beaten by Essendon at Telstra Dome on Sunday, but he is certain they will try to secure a sixth win of the season.
Double pick: Lose to Essendon and the Dogs land picks three and six, potentially Richard Tambling (above) and Jarryd Roughead.
Success is a double indemnity for the Bulldogs. A win would automatically cost the club a priority draft pick because that would take it above the ceiling of ]five-and-a-half wins in a season.

You might want to read it yourself. Comprehend what it says......FEWER THAN FIVE.
If that is right or wrong I don't give a cuss, but it says FEWER THAN FIVE.
So don't give me any crap....just read the AFL web site....that is all I was pointing out. IF you read back over the entire thread you'll see that I have already indicated I thought it was 5.5. When Port Hole (whatever his name is) pointed out it was 5 I went and checked on the AFL web site and found the piece I had attached earlier.
So GO FIGURE......
BTW do you beieve everything you read in the paper??????

Pull your head in for 5 mintues and review what I was saying with an open mind.
First, at no stage have I said I agree that it is five or fewer. Just pointing to the fact that it is written that way on the AFL web site.
Go Figure was used because the AFL WEB SITE (run by the AFL) says FEWER THAN FIVE......
What do you think that means? Go Figure?
I think that is wrong, poorly written, because it implies that it you win five you do not get a priority pick.....
So that is why I said GO FIGURE!

Its definately unfair -- very very unfair to the team(s) that finish on 6 or 7 wins for the season, especially when 2 or 3 other teams finish with 5 or less.
thats why we MUST loose... we dont want to be that team.

Not all champions are selected at #1
True Larry 6, but I guess two earlier picks make a better choice then
one pick in between and make up for it late in the draft (like 50)
I would want a point so we don't go over the criteria.
Then Johno will shake his head, but someone on the mark will be hopping around and smiling. Irony.
