View Full Version : Dry Rot's indictment of Rohde and a glimpse into the future

Since Round 22, 2002 we've played only a handful of great games: Pies that round, 2 quarters v North, Saints, North again last weekend. (May have missed one)

Aside from the North game in Canberra, all the other games had "outside" factors revving up the players: the departure of Wallace, benching of Hayes, retirement of Croft & Garlo, while in crunch games like the recent one v Hawks we were pretty hopeless.

This, I think, is the biggest indictment of Rohde that the only times we have played one of the box came from "outside" influences.

I have not been a Rohde basher, but this along with the lack of development of the younger players is a strong indictment of his time as coach.

On a positive note, if Eade can get us consistently playing footy like when played Saints and with greater accountablilty, improved skills and better tactics we are a good chance to make the finals.

Can't wait.

good call!! allow me to be the official Peter Rhode Basher. Hand full of wins, No tactics, lacks vision, crumbles under pressure, talks in cliches, and has the ability to put someone on ectasy to sleep. Play's Harrison before Croft, Uses Croft as a scape goat for our bad form, remember, "Croft won't play another game for the year, so we can concentrate on giving the youngsters a go". I can think of at least 4 players who should be playing for Werribee before Matthew. The way Peter Rhode has treated Matthew after all he has done for our club and considering he has been in the best for Werribee all year (no surprises there) makes me ecstatic that we have finally seen the back of a coach who has been anything but!! Good Bye Peter, Thanks for nothing. PS. I have nothing against a bloke having a crack, he gave it a shot, he wasn't good enough, life goes on. I probably would not have expressed any of the above, but when you treat Mathew Croft the way he has, i feel it's my duty as a member of 19 years to express my absolute disgust and shock. Bring on the Rocket.

Welome to this board, dogupya.

The point of this thread was not another Rohde bashing, but rather trying to point out that this team has some real potential but Rohde was unable to rev them up to realise it.

As for his other sins, these are well enough documented elsewhere, and now I'm just looking forward to 2005 and kicking arse.
