Hi Footy Fans...

The finals are a mere three weeks away and this past weekend saw the Roosters have done the near unthinkable. Their win on Sunday moved them into a third spot and if they can survive the next two rounds without a loss, a double chance awaits them in September and a qualifying final meeting at Adelaide Oval for the first week. Also, in the fight for a fifth spot berth, the Bloods still hold that spot... barely. In the two rounds left in the season, they face Port and then a meeting with Centrals, so they are at this time looking down the barrel of a gun!

So now to the SANFL wrap-up for Round 21!

Due to contractural agreements with the ABC, the match between Centrals and Port at NAP Oval ended up as the Match of the Day... putting them up against the Crows v. Cats match. However the crowd numbers did not suffer! The home team made the Magpies suffer all day, starting off by kicking 7.3 to one goal in the first quarter then adding a further 5.4 to 3.0 in the second. The visitors' best effort was the third quarter, outscoring the Dogs 5.1 to 3.4. Centrals however, would not let them off so easily, so another they put on another seven goal quarter. Daniel Schell was on fire, kicking 7.5 in the Doggies 85 point demolition of Port... and putting their chances of an elimination final almost beyond reach.

The next day, with no AFL games to contend with, Unley Oval got one of its best attendances of 2004 when Sturt fronted up against the Roosters. And what a day it was to boot I'll bet. North established a lead quickly, leading by 13 points at quarter time. A bit of inaccuracy in the second quarter allowed the Blues to stay in touch with the visitors, kicking 4.1 to 4.6 to trail by 18 points at the long break. When play resumed, North's charges kept the Blues from getting to close and were able to keep the lead at three goals at the following siren. A final quarter charge by the Blues could not close the gap though, North Adelaide by 11 points with skipper Darryl Wintle named best on ground.

In the last game of the round, neutral territory at Adelaide Oval for the West Adelaide and Norwood match. Westies, still hanging on to a finals spot by a thin thread found themselves under the pump in the second quarter. After leading by 15 points at quarter time, they trailed the Redlegs by three goals at half time. The visitors didn't get a score in the third term, the Bloods kicking 3.4 to re-take the lead by three points. The final quarter was a tight tussle, going goal for goal until it came down to behinds to make up the difference. The Bloods came out victors by two points.

Next week in Round 22, the Dogs take a rest... while they take it easy, three teams continue the fight for fifth spot. The Bloods who hold that spot, face the Magpies at Alberton. A slip-up here could spell the end for either, more so for Westies who have a major task in Round 23! South Adelaide are in the hunt too, they face a hurting Blues outfit down at Noarlunga. The Roosters head for the Bay, and the Eagles pay a visit to The Parade, can the 'Legs pull of an unlikely victory?!

Norwood v. Woodville-West Torrens; Norwood Oval

Any tips for helping footy in Tasmania.

Probably the old faithful, staunch SANFL supporters and people looking at a day out that don't cost a fortune.

As for tips on helping Tassie footy... not sure dude. Here's hoping that the Devils do well in the VFL finals.

The problem is that the worse the Devils do the better it is for the REAL local comp, not a real great situation.

P.S. Love the round wrap up's you do, hope South do a bit better next year, they were lookin pretty famous their for a while, but as always we keep shootin ourselves in the foot.

Good luck to all teams in the up coming finals series, hope Centrals share it around a bit come that first Saturday in Oct, thy are becoming very dominant, oh well I wouldn't be complaining like this if the mighty Panthers were in the Finals.

A pretty f***ed up situation for Tassie there.

Thanks for your kudos... I try my best. ;)
