We may not be playing for a spot in the finals but Essendon are so you would expect them to be trying to win at all costs.
If we are competitive for more than 5 minutes Essendon will try and intimidate a few players and rough them up.
I know our players are spirited and some younger but if they try and dominate us all our players have to respond with aggressive tackling, no waiting for the opponent to baulk and sidestep, the players need to attack them straight at the body right away. Heavy sheparding and let Robbins ect put big screens on McPhee and other Bombers will do us well.
now if the Bombers want to engage in some physical stuff the Bulldogs need to hunt them in packs and the bigger guys like Bandy,Grant,Minson and Darcy need to fly the flag.
Also Brad Johnson has been taken out twice this year heavily targetted so he should be the hunter instead of the hunted.

I see it the other way. The have finals to think about. We can do whatever we like to them and you know they'll think twice about retaliating because they won't want to rule themselves out for the finals.
We aren't going to win and I don't really want us to, but there are more ways to ruin the Bombers season than to win. Rough a few up and lay some heavy bumps and see if you can get a few out for next week.
This REALLY annoys me:

Sheedy is ignoring nothing. So why has he brought up the subject? The reporter is just as stupid. It's done to make us angry and it's working.

Perhaps we could borrow Richie Vandenberg, Barry Hall, and Glen Archer for the weekend?

On Saturday night, they had real problems with the ruck & clearances, and the Swans close checking and tackling and flooding made life difficult for them. Losing McPhee for a few weeks didn't help either.
Dunno if we have the personnel to do this, but certainly the Dons defenders without Wellman and McPhee looked ordinary. Especially in the air.
Mid field flood & open forward line with say Grant, Johnson and Smith up forward only could be interesting.
They are definitley beatable.
I think we are dreaming that we are going to beat them. No real motivation for us, no FB, no FF and Rohde coach.

That might be a good game plan, if we had the cattle to implement the plan.
Wellman will return this week.

Sheedy raises deliberately losing. Pressed, he says “Oh, no. They wouldn’t do that”. He then reminds us of what is at stake, 3 and 6 and finally warns that this might be the last year it is available. I’d say he is trying to put into the club mind that this is a good one to lose. Why not. It makes his job easy and he can add another year in the finals to his CV. That’s fine by me. Who cares about Essendon and Sheedy’s CV. Bring on the next Judd and Sampi.

I despise Essendon and would like to see us suck a few eyes out, kick a few heads in and generally cause some physcial trauma to the Bombers. I'd actually prefer a win any day over the picks- all this talk about losing is crap. We will probably lose anyway so to suggest that we will lay down is just ludicrous.

Make no mistake they always hate playing us, we seemed to always have good games against them. But with no Harris to curb Lloyd just makes it a little more difficult. Sheeds as usual talks it up, I would be surprised if he didn't have anything to say.

When it comes to winning this week and missing out on the extra draft pick remember what Caesar said, "Pride comes before a fall" Bring on the draft picks and to hell what Sheedy reckons.

I'm sure Patrick Wiggins is aware that his AFL career is over. Bring him in and tell him to deck anyone who goes near the ball (preferably not if they are wearing red, white, and blue) and stuff the consequences. Or if he's worried about missing out on the Werribee finals, he can just bump really hard.
