I feel like writing this because i'm so happy. Feel free to point fun at me, lol.

wow just wow. Today i played in my second grand final in 3 years. The last time i played in a grand final was against the current team i'm playing for. I was apart of the Edithvale Rovers 2002 team defeated by the Edithvale/Aspendale Eagles and today i'm apart of the Edithvale/Aspendale Eagles defeat of the cheating Frankston Dolphins. It was an amazing day with such loud crowd noise and so much at stake. There would of had to of been 500 - 550 people there along with video camreas for the video, Scouts and proud parents. Coming into the game Frankston Dolphins had gone the entire season undefeated. 14 zip record in the H&A season and a 22pt win over us in the Semi Final. The reason behind this is because the FDJFL allowed Dolphins eight 16 and a half players. Now by this time of the year, those eight 16/halfs are currently 17. They are not a junior side at all So you can imagne the diffrence in skill and body when comparing to other teams playing inside the rules of the league. They had no more then 300pts score against them in 15 games. Having only played 1 game in 4 weeks everyone hoped Frankston was lacking match fitness but they dismissed those hopes and opened up early kicking the first 2 goals. We hanged in there and were only 1pt behind coming into the second quater. Dolphins had beaten us 3 times in the H&A season. The margins were 88pts, 45pts and 76pts so nobody really gave us a chance. Then it all opened up for us, Frankston was caught cheating ... again. One of the umpires called for a head count and it was found that Frankston had 19 players on the field. There was a meeting in the centre of the ground as both teams huddled in there respective 50 metre zones. It was decided that Dolphins would have there total score tally of 18 brought back to zero, Thus giving us an 17pt lead. We had all the confidence in the world but that was soon shot and heads were dropping to the ground when Dolphins slammed on 3 goals to bring the lead back out. They were standing around laughing saying the Premiership was theres and nobody could take it away from them. They were far from right, We started putting on the pressure and they crumbled. They got angry and frustrated and gave away very silly free kicks. One of there players was red carded and sent off for kicking by the field umpire. Thus making it 18 onto 17 but they STILL thought they were going to win. Come final quater the Dolphins are infront by 7pts and some players were loosing faith. Even with such a small margin, they didn't beleive we could win. Dolphins kicked the first goal and the crowd thought it was over. We slammed home 4 goals in 10minutes to take home the Premiership by 4pts. Against all odds and the biggest underdogs EVER, we had beaten the unbeatable and we didn't lower ourself to cheating. The game was unbeleive with so many speckies (atleast 5) very hard knocks and hits, great tackling and some really really exciting Atmosphere. I strongly urge anyone that lives in the Frankston area to pick up the tape when it comes out. You might be thinking 'oh it's junior scrappy football' beleive it or not but there was fewer ball ups and stoppages then in a seniors match and it was all clean. No cluster areas of stoppages, just free flowing football.

Against all odds we had beaten them. Even some of our players gave us no hope but it shows when you're playing against cheats, they are bound to slip up and if you want it bad enough, anything is possible. We were not handed this premiership, we worked for it for a soild 4 quaters. When the siren rang everyone in the crowd jumped onto the ground and embarced us. Screaming and chanting like we had won a world championship. They did this because NO ONE gave us a chance against a much bigger, stronger, faster and skillful side but we did it and nobody can take that away from us. They stormed off the ground in very unsportsman like fasion, punching walls and screaming but that's just what they deserved. Those 10minutes after the game, it's like everybody on your team is your best friend. No matter if you have diffrences and dislike someone. For those 10minutes, you feel like one million bucks. I will forever remember the 23 guys i played in this premiership with. I played against them 2 years ago and lost a grand final, now i'm playing with them and won one, Life is good.

So remember people ... You can beat the cheats.
