just reading a post somehwere earlier and someone said something about Ken Mcgregor i was wondering what does everyone think of this trade i came up with.

Whitnall, Livingston, Sporn to adelaide

Mcgregor and burton to carlton.

this gives us a key position backman and a forward/midfielder and they are both under 26.

adelaide gets a replacement forward for carey and a backman for mcgregor whilst also getting a up and comer in sporn who is from adelaide.

if not good for adelaide, you could change livingston with a draft pick and fix it up that way?

im pretty sure mcgregor wont go

he is one of the main crows prospects for the future

i would take him if the chance arose but chances are very slim

I stated this on the Crows board in reply to the same trade question.

Kenny is an untouchable at the AFC i would of thought, him, Rutten and Hentschel are going to form the spine for us for the next 5-8 years hopefully so I cannot see Kenny being traded for anything less than a top 3 pick at least and nobody will do that.

Yes have to agree with you on this one. Sporn seems the injury prone type
who would trip over his own shadow given half the chance.

Pity though as I think he has a future especially if the medicos can keep him on the park.

Not to sure about the budding superstar tag though!!!

On a seperate issue I see in today's Herald Sun that Carlton might be interested in trading for Rhyce Shaw.

Should we be interested in him or would he be only a slightly better version of our present "turn over king" David Clarke and of real no long term value to our list??

If we wanted him who would be a Carlton player that we don't want and that C'wood might trade for him??

Is someone like Franchina untradeable??

Or are there better unwanted C'wood fringe players (ie Scotland like) that we should pursue instead of Shaw??

Any opinions??

well we do need pace in our backline, someone who can break the lines, much like barry from the swans, ryce shaw is capable of this (id prefer ben johnson but he'd be untouchable) so i think he'd be worth a gamble, i wouldnt offer anything more than a 4th round pick for him tho.

id look at clubs like the dogs, freo, saints who have heaps of young kids and maybe select a couple to try and pinch from them, fringe players who have heaps of pace and potential (ie mcmahon from the dogs).

i wouldnt be depressed like some of you to see ryce playing in the navy blue .... i reckon dennis if he shows faith in him could bring out the best in him ... but who knows.

I'd be interested in Shaw, he wouldn't be any worse then Clarke would he? If he is we will just play him in the 2's lol.

Didnt you blokes watch last years GF ???

Rhys Shaw is a dud, we have enough recycled guys that paid off, time to invest in youth or trade for TOP shelf talent, bits & pieces we dont need, we can keep our own.
At best Pagan would turn Rhys Shaw from an embaressment into a hard working no name pleb that nullifies an "honest" opponent.

McGregor is basically an untouchable for us & along with Rutten gives us 2 key defenders with plenty of years left. ie. No need for Livingston who is a far poorer option than either.

Like Sporn as a player, but we have an excess of HBF types already.

Whitnall, Livingston, Sporn to adelaide

As I recall, Sporn has re-signed for two years about a few weeks ago.

As a Carlton man, I'd take that trade in a flash if it were offered.

McGregor is one of the main types we need - a solid, reliable backman (and pinch hitter up forward).

Burton - well, you'd take him at this stage of his career. He has a hell of a lot of potential, and if he gets right physically, he could be one of the best players at the club.

Whitnall needs a fresh start, as much as a like the guy, Livingston hasn't yet shown he can compete with the big boys down back and Sporn would be a loss, but a neccessary one if it was to net us McGregor.

Of course, it's all hypothetical but I'd go for it.
